When they get to Striker's, Ilma informs them that Zoanad, the Assistant Guildmaster of the Restless Hand, whose name appeared on the list of informants that Khal and Alejandro found in Sir Segar's safe, was back in town. Ilma told them that Zoanad had been instructed by Ilma to work on fixing the problem with Etiwin and the Queen's Guard, but had done something else instead. Ilma said that Zoanad had only been by the pub once since coming back to town and was very evasive about what he was up to. Zoanad also, according to informants, was meeting unknown people at unknown places throughout town since his return. Ilma then asked Khal, Alejandro, and Mojo to follow Zoanad to try to find out what he was up to. Ilma told them to go the Blue Bell Inn, where they would meet Gorn of the Restless Hand. Gorn, whom Alejandro and Khal had dealt with before when they were out to take revenge on Bulacan, would tell them where Zoanad lived.
The three disguised themselves and proceeded to the Blue Bell. On their way, they saw several heads on Traitor's Gate. Although none of the faces were recognizable anymore, due to the crows pecking at the flesh and eyes, one of them was wearing a cook's hat (it was Sir Segar's cook who helped them gain access to the knight's townhouse and safe).
When they got to Gorn's hangout, just south of the Blue Bell Inn, Gorn wasn't there. But there were chalk marks on the wall of three superimposed hands (the symbol of the Restless Hand) and an arrow pointing east with a number 5 next to it. Not knowing for sure what it meant, they followed the arrow east. Eventually, they found Gorn, who was on his way back from staking out Zoanad's flat.
Gorn led them to a courtyard just outside Zoanad's flat. Just then, a merchant came out of the building where Zoanad lived. The group quickly acted in character for their disguises: Alejandro, who was dressed as a cleaning lady, began mopping the courtyard, and Khal, dressed as an old man, began muttering to himself.
