@ChroniclesOfGrim - Glad you find Scabard so helpful!

Skrobo (Thu Dec 08 07:19:55 PST 2016)

@Stolph - sorry for late answer - I just changed all troubling names to grammatically incorrect in my own language, but accepted by the system. The problem arises whenever a name/group name/other descriptor uses some of the following letters: ą, ć, ż, ź, ę, ó, ś, ń. I know its a minor issue, but it would help me a lot to have it sorted out:)

ChroniclesOfGrim (Sun Dec 04 07:07:34 PST 2016)

Hey Stolph. I want to tell you. Your site has helped me a lot so far with what I'm working on. The way you guys have this stuff set up had made creating an entire galaxy worth of content very easy to do. I have gotten more writing and content set up on here then i have on docs. ^_^

stolph (Sat Nov 26 21:14:46 PST 2016)

@geekgoddess82575, I really like D&D 5. Welcome to Scabard!

stolph (Sat Nov 26 21:12:07 PST 2016)

Hi @Skrobo, checked out your campaign and it looks like you have lots of connections. Is there a particular page in your campaign you were unable to connect to? Do you know which characters don't work?

geekgoddess82575 (Thu Nov 17 20:33:08 PST 2016)

I've been playing off & on for 30 years now. I just started trying my hand at GMing with the D&D 5E Starter Set. We are about to finish it up, and my friends have expressed interest in continuing in a world of my own creation. I have a few loose ideas floating around in my head, and I hope this will help me get them tied down and filled out.

Skrobo (Thu Nov 17 07:43:14 PST 2016)

I really like Scabard, but there are some technical issues when I try to use my native language - lack of internationalisation makes creating connections among i.e. characters impossible if they use non-english letters. Can we do something about it?

DoctorSong (Sat Oct 08 02:09:35 PDT 2016)

want to do a sci fi rp with connections to my vr world hopefully i can combine the two but need help getting started

stolph (Wed Oct 05 23:09:16 PDT 2016)

@colonelhalfling - I left a comment on your campaign with what to do.

colonelhalfling (Wed Oct 05 19:55:55 PDT 2016)

@stolph, I ran into a bit of an issue. I named my campaign after the country in which it occurs, and when I attempted to create a place with the same name, it refused to post.

stolph (Fri Sep 30 20:59:15 PDT 2016)

Hi @Jherrick. Says for me 5062.7. Not seeing 24000 anywhere.

stolph (Fri Sep 30 20:54:56 PDT 2016)

Hi @yandhen - glad you like Scabard! You are not the first. Scabard is not internationalized, but since we support UTF, non-ASCII characters should work fine for campaigns in other languages.

Jherrick (Thu Sep 29 18:25:54 PDT 2016)

Just thought I should point out an error on my campaign. Acrin Campaign is listed on here with over 24,000 score, but it should only have a little over 5,000. I don't want to be awarded far more points than I should actually have, as that, to me, diminishes the pride in actually making it that high.

yandhen (Thu Sep 29 02:28:01 PDT 2016)

Hi! I have to say, scabard is a useful application for me. So thank you so much! Question: Is there any french here, or i'm the first of the site? :D

stolph (Tue Sep 27 16:57:08 PDT 2016)

Hi @FridayKnight. Sorry for the late reply. OK, will add private campaigns to the road map (as a Hero feature), as many have requested it. I've long wondered whether local backups was a desired feature, but you're actually the first person in 3 1/2 years to actually ask for it. :) If enough other people request it, I will add it to the road map.

FridayKnight (Sun Sep 18 08:38:34 PDT 2016)

Also! I was talking up Scabard with a friend, and he asked if we could do local backups of our campaign data. Is that a possibility for the future?

FridayKnight (Fri Sep 16 22:47:53 PDT 2016)

The games I run tend to end up with bits of "R-rated" content, and that might clash with the kid-friendly atmosphere you're trying to foster on this site. I'd like to have the option to keep the grittier aspects of my game worlds stored alongside the majority of my data. Maybe we could choose what to show and not to show to the public, if you don't like the idea of private campaigns. I.e. if I created a dungeon that was particularly grisly, I could limit public access to that location, but not the nearby town or world at large.

stolph (Fri Sep 16 20:52:53 PDT 2016)

Hi @FridayKnight - Glad you like Scabard. In the early days of Scabard there was a private campaign feature. I've thought about bringing it back, since many have requested it. But it would be part of the paid plan. The one thing I'm not sure of is why people request this feature. Can you please help me to understand why you'd like this feature?

stolph (Fri Sep 16 20:48:15 PDT 2016)

Hi @ChipmukPDX - Please check out this Help page: https://www.scabard.com/page/Finding_Your_Campaign

FridayKnight (Fri Sep 16 00:21:53 PDT 2016)

Hi, there! Liking Scabbard so far. Is there a way to make an entire campaign secret or hidden to non-participants?

ChipmunkPDX (Thu Sep 01 11:49:58 PDT 2016)

I wish we could search for campaigns

stolph (Sat Aug 13 09:32:21 PDT 2016)

@GryphonRider- Glad you like Scabard! Let me know if you have any questions.

GryphonRider (Fri Aug 12 18:45:36 PDT 2016)

I really like Scabard. It really helps me plan things out and add facts I never would have thought up. Now, I can plan out more intricate settlements with less generic characters and never risk losing my notes. Can't wait to upgrade to the full version.

earanhart (Thu Jul 28 10:26:05 PDT 2016)

That makes much more sense.

stolph (Wed Jul 27 00:44:42 PDT 2016)

Hi @earanhart, welcome to Scabard! - Many GM's use the secrets fields on their pages, which doesn't contribute toward score. Also, If you sort by score, rather than default freshness, you'll see you're further down than the 15th highest. Campaigns with sizable recent updates tend to appear on the first page by freshness, which is a hybrid of by score and by recency. Also, for many GM's it doesn't take a lot of material to get a campaign started. See my article https://www.scabard.com/page/Just-in-Time_Campaign_Building for details on how I build as I go. Hope that helps.

earanhart (Thu Jul 21 07:22:38 PDT 2016)

TFW when I consider my work "barely enough to start the campaign" and it lists as the 15th highest scoring campaign. What is everyones secret to playing with so little data? Or are you using Scabard as a complement to your traditional GM Binders?

frostphoenix (Wed Jun 15 18:09:40 PDT 2016)

got it! thanks!

stolph (Tue Jun 14 20:27:34 PDT 2016)

Hi @frostphoenix - You can create any number of campaigns by clicking the +Campaign button on this page. You can see all your campaigns from your user profile page, which you can get to by clicking on your username on the right side of the top menu. If all your campaigns are in the same world, people usually just create one Scabard campaign so they don't have to create a bunch of duplicate pages. Hope that helps.

frostphoenix (Tue Jun 14 14:03:22 PDT 2016)

question, how do you keep tabs if you run multiple campaigns? (i run 5)

stolph (Mon Oct 12 22:10:35 PDT 2015)

@taroncreator - It's because you were trying to create a group called "Adventuring Group", which is the name of a category. I will file a task to give an error message when that happens so at least you know why it doesn't work.

taroncreator (Mon Oct 12 09:32:48 PDT 2015)

I can't create groups.

stolph (Thu Sep 17 20:06:03 PDT 2015)

@alawlesslad - Welcome to Scabard! And thanks for the suggestions. To find your campaign, check out this page here: http://www.scabard.com/page/Finding_Your_Campaign . As far as allowing duplicate campaign names, I think it might cause confusion for people following others' campaigns, such as players; but I will think about your suggestion. I would be interested in what others on Scabard think too if anyone else wants to chime in. I've definitely seem some janky work-a rounds, such as names ending in an underscore.

alawlesslad (Thu Sep 17 17:39:29 PDT 2015)

Sorry if this has been posted before (it's difficult to sort through comments and the available campaigns). Say if I am playing a D&D Module (Rise of Tiamat, to be specific) that is already listed on Scabard, how am I able to access my own individual version of it? Right now it seems like only one person can have a campaign of a specific name. I could always name it something like "alawlesslad Rise of Tiamat", but that solution seems kind of janky. What if campaign uniqueness was based off of the the primary key: [User + Campaign Name] ?

ChuckDee (Thu Aug 27 14:05:59 PDT 2015)

@stolph - Thanks for the response! Interesting solution to a daunting problem!

stolph (Wed Aug 26 07:12:13 PDT 2015)

Hi @wraith808 - Freshness is a hybrid of recency and score. You can read more about it here: http://www.scabard.com/page/Sort_by_Freshness

ChuckDee (Tue Aug 25 16:34:26 PDT 2015)

What's the difference between 'freshness' and 'recency'?

stolph (Sat Aug 15 00:40:11 PDT 2015)

@Lokistrom - Glad you like the site! Welcome!

Lokistrom (Wed Aug 12 11:54:05 PDT 2015)

Just wanted to drop in and say a great many thanks for this site! It has been so very useful for not only my campaign (Evil Entangled) but for in between the sessions as well! Amazing place with plenty of resources. As my campaign grows I am certain that my page will as well!

stolph (Wed Aug 05 19:04:02 PDT 2015)

There is a bug where people's campaigns and characters are sometimes counted more than once. This greatly inflates people's XP and level in some cases, so if yours drops dramatically in the future it means I fixed that bug. ;)

stolph (Wed Aug 05 18:59:37 PDT 2015)

@OmnipotentLion. Glad you like Scabard! You are an assistant GM for that campaign and they do not have delete powers by design. But the delete button shouldn't have shown, so that's a bug. The GM should be able to delete the page for you. Thanks for the feedback!

OmnipotentLion (Wed Aug 05 10:53:32 PDT 2015)

@stolph - I can't delete a character page in my campaign Adventures of Euroth. When I click delete and confirm the page goes blanks but when I refresh it's still there and can still be accessed through the character tab. It's not a big deal but I thought I would mention it. Love the site, great work!

Hi @Vaeadil! Welcome to Scabard!

Heylo all :)

stolph (Fri Jul 24 15:00:37 PDT 2015)

@Vincent Van Dam - Welcome to Scabard! Can you please try again and let me know what errors you see, if any? Thanks!

Vincent Van Dam (Mon Jul 13 18:08:38 PDT 2015)

the new campaign button is'int working for me? also on a side note I'm new here Hi everybody!

stolph (Fri Apr 24 10:59:25 PDT 2015)

@philip_bennison - changed the name to Gaean per your request. You should be able to go there now without the exception. I will fix the underlying issue in the next couple of days.

philip_bennison (Fri Apr 24 00:53:43 PDT 2015)

@stolph If you could just change the name of the campaign from Gaea to Gaean I think that would fix it. :) One of my assistant GMs created an entry called Gaea inside the campaign which is what caused the problem (I think).

philip_bennison (Thu Apr 23 00:54:58 PDT 2015)

@stolph I get a 500 server error on my campaign now. http://www.scabard.com/campaign/33960

PatheticBarrel (Fri Apr 10 18:11:15 PDT 2015)

@stolph No problem! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't just not following instructions right.

stolph (Thu Apr 09 22:53:09 PDT 2015)

@PatheticBarrel - Yes. It is broken right now. I have it on my list to fix. Sorry about that.

PatheticBarrel (Thu Apr 09 18:50:06 PDT 2015)

Anyone else having issues with the Race tab on the Characters page?

directedbyme (Sun Mar 22 15:00:18 PDT 2015)

Is anyone playing Dungeon World on here? I wanna put together a play test of my RPG on kickstarter now. http://bit.ly/BnBRPG

stolph (Tue Feb 03 13:01:13 PST 2015)

@IceFalcon - I will answer on your campaign.

Icefalcon (Sat Jan 31 20:19:30 PST 2015)

@Stolph Is it possible to pin multiple maps to a single location, such as for multiple levels?

Bilorine (Wed Jan 21 09:20:58 PST 2015)

@stolph Thanks! I will give it a shot and let you know if that works.

stolph (Tue Jan 20 20:15:33 PST 2015)

Hi @Bilorine - Not sure I understand, but you can make a story arc an Event with EVENT_CATEGORY set to Plot Point. Then try using SUB_EVENT_OF connections between Events, and PARTICIPANT_OF between Characters and Events, SETTING_OF to define where an Event takes place, and finally PROP_OF to associate Items with Events. If that doesn't answer your question, maybe you can give me an example.

Bilorine (Tue Jan 20 13:47:20 PST 2015)

I am really liking this interface. I am starting to fill in my current campaign. I do not see an option to group things together such as locations, events and characters that represent a specific aspect or story arc of the campaign. Is that something that is in development or am I just missing how to do this?

stolph (Wed Dec 31 18:19:46 PST 2014)

@taroncreator, thanks for reporting the issue. "The World" map in your TNV campaign is the only one I found with the issue. Pins on all other maps seem to work. I'll add this to the list for further investigation.

taroncreator (Wed Dec 31 13:51:15 PST 2014)

There's a problem with the map pins. Whenever I try making a map pin it doesn't show up.

stolph (Mon Sep 08 21:42:19 PDT 2014)

Hi Tofts, I left an answer for you in your campaign on deleting campaigns. I also just added a topic on this in the help: "Deleting Campaigns." As for your other questions, I'd have to look more into roll20. For ideas for your campaign, look on the Extras link on the menu, especially the "Kingdom Events" article. You can also look at buying story dice on Amazon. Hope that helps!

stolph (Wed Aug 13 00:40:02 PDT 2014)

Hi @Sevantius - Thanks for your interest in Scabard. I got this same question earlier (Facebook?). Maybe it was you? Scabard is meant to be more about the story than about particular rules. That said, you can upload character sheets from any rules and assign them to PCs and NPCs in your campaign. Some people have even put stats for their characters directly into the descriptions.

Sevantius (Thu Jul 31 01:24:47 PDT 2014)

I wanted to use this site for an AGE campaign, but it doesn't seem to allow for that. Specifically Dragon Age from Green Robin.

stolph (Thu Dec 26 21:57:07 PST 2013)

Fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience.

stolph (Thu Dec 26 19:38:55 PST 2013)

Ability to create new campaigns momentarily broken. Will try to fix today.

stolph (Wed Dec 04 00:26:11 PST 2013)

Yesterday, Johnn Four, an RPG blogger, published an article I wrote. We're getting lots of traffic from new visitors who've clicked on the links. Welcome to all the new visitors and thanks to Johnn for publishing my article!

stolph (Mon Dec 02 22:15:48 PST 2013)

Scabard now has a back url capability. If you try to edit something but forgot to login, it will automatically take you to the login page. After you've logged in, it will return you to where you were.

stolph (Mon Dec 02 22:14:27 PST 2013)

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, the Taron campaign leapfrogged past Gordovia in its score and is now in second place! Congrats!
Eraven: 13666
Taron: 7981
Gordovia: 6877
