The two groups agree to travel together toward Invidia. While on the way, Bangus climbs up to see where they are. Khal climbs up after him and discovers Bangus measuring distances with his feet, as if trying to find something. Ale, down below, notices a strange white rock formation below him, but doesn't investigate since Lyssiah interests him much more.
The group plans to spend the night in the village of Addrynnynn, but on the way they see someone on horseback patrolling. Bangus identifies him as a "Roamer", and they wait until night to proceed into the village. After arranging for a room at the inn, Alejandro and Khal engage in darts to see who will pay for it.
The next day, they travel through lush farmlands and arrive at Invidia just before sunset. After checking the gate guards check the documents Galarep had forged for the smuggled goods, Bangus tells the group what to do if they get into trouble with the authorities. They should go to the lemon stand in the fruit market and tell the merchant, "your lemons are looking a bit like limes." At that point, Bangus explains, the merchant will tell you what to do.
Once inside the city, the group makes its way to the :"Shackled Sailor Inn & Tavern" off the central market. Bulacan excuses himself to shop for provisions. Alejandro begins to perform in front of the patrons. Minutes later, guards come bursting into the tavern from the front and back, telling everyone to "freeze". Moments later, a knight and a masked man enter the tavern. "Which ones are they?", the knight says to the masked man, who then point to our heroes. The guards then move in to arrest the betrayed. Alejandro queries the knight, "What are the charges?", to which the knight responds, "Tax evasion."
The knight orders the guards to remove their weapons and other tools, and the prisoners are taken to a holding cell deep in the dungeons near the castle to await trial before the king......
