Our plucky band of daring do's nearly navigated their way past Luskan avoiding the attention of the Arcane Brotherhood. They knew they were hunted, they knew the band of Adventureres Harule had seen were not the same group they were. They knew the descriptions named of the wanted poster would not readily mark them as the Wanted: Chaos Crew.
Despite this, as they crossed the last bridge north of luskan, before the edge of the city walls, a mage and his henchman took time to enquire of the returning locals what news they had of their quarry. Kokoro had done a good job of foiling the inquisition, neither directly lying or giving themselves away, but she could not avoid piquing the mages suspicion. At this the reckless barbarian Kiya launched an attack that sealed their fates and declared their status.
Short work was made of the made and his henchmen, but so close to the city walls their attack was seen and responded to. Whilst kiya busied himself with the bodies Kokoro, Stroma, Skye and a Gardell (recently returned to existence) all realised their folly. The city gates were opening and riders were being dispatched. Kokoro uttered one clear instruction.
Can The Chaos Crew flee an entire battalion of Luscan Riders? Will they escape jail, or worse...death? Will their mission to investigate the Lathander Day Spa be abandoned as they rot in a Luskan Jail and risk the mercies of Harule the Collector and the Arcane Brotherhood.
Find out in our next thrilling instalment: "By a Hare's Breadth"
Kokoro, Skye, Stroma and the panicked Gardell bolted along the Eastern Path. Kiya busied himself with looting the bodies and looked up to see what all the fuss was about. In the distance he could see the open city gates and several guards mounting horses. If they were anything like the two guards he had already slain they would be no match for him but by his count their number would mean death for them all. Kiya picked up his quarry and ran after his colleagues.
The road was busy with travellers making their way along the Blackford Road. The Chaos Crew took as much advantage of their head start as they could.
Stroma dashed into the wooded brush aside of the path and Kokoro tried to follow, tripping and landing hard onto the ground.
The giant Gardell tried to jump onto one of the carts and hide beneath its cargo only to be swiftly beaten by the Old Lady who owned the vehicle.
The guards were on their horses were soon hot on their heels and the crowds ran before they were trampled. Arrows were let loose and caught kiya and Skye in the back.
Somehow the Chaos Crew managed to evade their pursuers, but at a cost. They were exhausted, injured and had lost a few things along the way...a few things and...Kiya looked around...Where was Koko?!? The guards had given up and turned around...they had seem them leave without successes from their hiding places in the trees along the road, she would not of been captured. But the race to evade their would be captures had so torn up the road and the surrounding brush no clues were to be found to give hope of tracking the young monk. The Barbarian was keen to stay, to search, she may be lost or injured, but Stroma reasoned with the tall dark-skinned warrior. Kokoro knew where they were going. Searching for her would only waist time and get them all lost. Kokoro was bright and she would make her way to the Lathander Day Spa and meet them there. Reluctantly Kiya agreed.
Proceeding along the Blackford road up ahead they saw a large touring coach adorned with white linin with giant Sun symbols on the sides and a big beaming face o the back.
"The Lathandran Coach Service! It must be!" exclaimed Skye.
The Chaos crew all ran to catch up with the slow moving vehicle. A giant two story dual carriage was pulled along by a brace of very stout horses. and sat atop next to the driver was a Paladin in shining armour and a shock of auburn hair. Gardell called up to him as Stroma quickly transformed herself into a doting old lady. It did not take them long to barter themselves passage on the Lathandran Coach Service and they made themselves comfortable on the top deck next to the cases and chests of the unseen travellers in the carriages below them.
