A creepy old windmill
The windmill known as Old Bonegrinder is located southeast of Vallaki. Though not the only windmill in the village, it is the most infamous, mostly due to its location near the Huntress Vale, a forest clearing where a ring of standing stones can be found. Additionally, Old Bonegrinder got its nickname because it was once believed to be used by hags to grind the bones of children into meal, though this has never been verified.
The windmill was purchased by Gustav Durst over a century ago. Durst kept the mill in business for many years and it became quite important to both Vallaki and the village of Barovia. After the Dursts met their untimely end in the Death House, the windmill continued to operate. It supplied Morgantha and Dennin Rosenthal's bakery in Barovia until the family that ran the mill was killed by an invasion of giant spiders.
The party cleared the windmill with the help of Vasili Von Holtz. Upon arrival at Vallaki, a new tenant was chosen for the mill, which went back into operation a few days later. A small detachment of guards were sent to ensure the safety of the new operation.
The mill had a giant stone wheel attached to its tattered sails. It could easily grind wheat into flour, or any other product needed. There were several internal floors, with storage for bags of flour, wheat, oats, and other meals. A small stone house was located nearby for the caretakers. An overgrown trail led from behind the house down to the Huntress Vale.
