"Welcome to the Great Mountain Empire in the Sky, Realm of the One Gnome King Eddemont Pufferbottom the Not Quite Serious, First of his name." - unknown gnome herald.
The gnomes of Morgeda live among low, rounded mountains. They only have one large city, but towns dot the landscape. Many towns have anchor rings at cleared fields for gnomish airships to land. Gnomes have steam and the beginnings of gunpowder. It is less “clockwork” and more steampunk. A wagon might have a boiler underneath and the wheels replaced by long legs for a land-boat that trundles over hills. Their airships use dirigible-like framed balloons and broad sails.
They have one port town, where they operate steam-powered sailing ships. Being sometimes too curious for their own good, they love to collect stories and information about other lands and other cultures. Their city and their port are places to see every fashion mixed together, although often more in caricature than accurate representation.
Gnomes don't go for simplistic designs like many other peoples do. This shows itself in gadget designs being too complicated to work properly, in fashions being overdone or mixing too many different things, in overcomplicated architecture. One area this benefits from, on the other hand, is cooking and baking. Cooks in Morgeda can create amazing flavors, and no one beats them at cake decoration.
