a deserted theme park and murky swamp
South of the bright lights and energy of the Board walk and the brooding darkness of the Old Docks along the lonely route 17 lies Murells Garden. A large swamp land and inlet bordered by a thin strip of beach, The swamp by day is quite pretty but by night it is a dark and misty place of rivers, islands swamp and swamp trees and full of dangers such as alligators. It is a place of ghost stories and urban myth.
Approaching from the land side the remains of the fun fair and its rides can be seen slowly rusting away. The fun fair is a popular place for ghost hunters and teens to dare each other to go into
The inlet was originally considered a good port but the initial attempts fell prey to disease and predators and was abandoned.
years ago the swamp and surrounding fields were a popular site. in 1919 Hordlies fun fair bought some land near the swamp and ran both a fairground and boats for hire to take photo's of the swamp life.
When a boat of ten people disappeared in the swamp their boat was found wrecked, but of the people there was no sign. The business never recovered and closed down a year later in 42. The rotted buildings and rides of the fun fair and boat business can still be seen from the locked up the access road. Local legend has it that several more people, tramps, runaways and those on the run have disappeared over the years into the Green but its hard to track those with no home maybe they just moved on.
Somewhere along the line People have moved into the swamp proper, these swamp people keep themselves to themselves doing the bare minimum to avoid the authorities rarely going into town but follow all the rules for home schooling and local laws.
