Fiercely independent group with an axe to grind.
A political group which grew out of the events of the Fall of Earth, the Architects were those of humanity kept awake during the twenty year long journey to Saturn. While the remaining survivors slept in cryostasis pods, the Architects toiled to create prefabricated and easily deployable infrastructure enough to house humanity in its entirety. Even much diminished in number after the ruin of their homeworld this was a herculean task, but their tenacity and dedication to creating a new home for their kind led to the population of Titan with an efficiency thought impossible.
However this devotion was not to last. After Titan's settlement the Coalition sought to re-establish itself in force, and the Architects were increasingly marginalised in this new order. Many who had participated in the building of Titan's cities were now finding it difficult to secure employment, and their voice was stifled amongst the sweeping cries for reform and expansion. Architect spokesperson Jaxxus Malorn, who had spearheaded the Architect project, lost faith in the ability of the Coalition to see to his people's needs. As far as he was concerned the government he helped establish would have preferred it if him and his people had been buried in the foundations of the structures they worked so hard to build.
And so Malorn began to fan the flames of populist rebellion.
Things came to a climax with the discovery of Fuel far below the surface of Titan, which the Architects swiftly moved to conceal and monopolise. By the time they declared their independence it was too late, and they had attained an insurmountable defence upon Titan itself. Eventually the bloodied Coalition was forced to sign treaties acknowledging the Architects as a people of their own, or risk being wiped out entirely.
The Architects would later open the First Gate, strengthening The Way.
Upon the discovery of The Artifact, the Architects mobilised in force to seize this potentially revolutionary power for themselves. This led to a clash with the Battle of Orthax, and the decimation of the Sons of Titan.
