Hafa is found on the very edge of the Kiskarra Desert where it borders into the Malagihay Tropics. As such, it is a unique settlement as it is an arid landscape surrounded by sand dunes and very little vegetation, but within the sightline of a forested area.
Many of the residents of Hafa are tieflings who arrived on Talamh with the eruption of Mount Sumendi and their descendants. The settlement existed before their arrival, but their presence has turned it into a much more vibrant and interconnected community. Hafa is home to many artisans who make their way to The Kiskarran Bazaar to sell their products, and the close-knit nature of the community is prominently displayed in those wares; often times, the work of several artisans are combined into one final product, with the profits being shared amongst all who contributed.
Hafa is home to a group of tiefling nomads known as the Sandstriders, who roam the vast desert in search of ancient ruins and hidden treasures. They are experts at navigating the treacherous sands and surviving in the harsh desert environment, often acting as guides and scouts for travelers seeking adventure or fortune in the unforgiving wilderness and often sought out by those from Kiskarra and beyond, given their proximity to the bordering lands.
