Amidst the echoes of the goblin song in the smoke-laden air of Bridgewater, the valiant party stood before the church, their blades and spells having silenced the threat that marred the Swallowtail Festival. With the nearby goblins dispatched, a momentary peace fell over the square, punctuated by the clangs and shouts of other battles and the crackling of distant flames.
The party, their hearts heavy with the day's sudden turn, quickly turned their attention to the shaken Father Zantus and the bystanders huddled near the cathedral. With swift action and calming words, Paul Van der Berg ushered the frightened group into the sanctuary of the newly consecrated cathedral, its holy grounds offering a bastion of safety against the chaos outside.
Sensing the urgency to protect the town, the adventurers hastened towards the Northern Gate, guided by the surge of townsfolk fleeing in terror. The scenes they encountered were of despair and fear, a stark contrast to the morning's festivities, now tainted by the goblin menace.
Amidst the pandemonium, a cry for help pierced the turmoil, drawing the party to a well-dressed man besieged by a goblin commando, more menacing and cunning than its lesser kin. A dog growled, viciously defending the well-dressed man, which seemed to frighten the goblins. Once it was cut down cruelly by the commando, the other goblins regained their fervor.
With strategic prowess and a fierce determination, the party engaged in a perilous skirmish. Their skills honed in battle were evident as they worked in unison to thwart the commando, saving the man from a grim fate. He introduced himself as Aldern Foxglove.
