Kiersey Mirrorwind and Feyre Norixius, hidden from sight in the ethereal plane, enter the throne room of the royal palace in Alsrynne. The room is tall and vast, with large stone columns holding up a grand ovular skylight rimmed in ornate golden filigree. Banners of purple and gold, embroidered with the crest of House Mirrorwond, line the walls and hang from the ceilings, accompanied by smaller banners bearing the crests of all the noble houses of the Kingdom of Alsryn. The room is dimly lit by torchlight and the twinkling of the stars in the night sky above.

Melody Mirrorwind paces nervously in front of the throne, her steps echoing in the grand chamber. Queen Verrina Mirrorwind sits regally on the throne, her gaze distant and contemplative. Several royal guards, clad in the heavy ceremonial armor of their station, silently flank the doors and archways to the room.

Melody Mirrorwind: Mother, I've been hearing whispers. Dangerous whispers.

Verrina nods slowly, not looking directly at Melody, and gestures lazily to her guards. The guards nod in unison and step outside, closing the doors to the chamber behind them.

Queen Verrina Mirrorwind: What whispers do you speak of, Melody?

Melody: (with quick exasperation) House Alistair has been making moves, trying to sway the council against us. They're trying to consolidate power, I can feel it. And House Blackthorn, they've been eyeing the throne for years. Dorian is ambitious, and I heard he's been in secret talks with Baron Rivendell.

Verrina raises an eyebrow slightly, her gaze still distant.

Verrina: I see. And what of Baron Rivendell?

Melody: He's a threat, Mother. His loyalty is questionable. He's been too friendly with the Alistairs and the Blackthorns. I'm sure he's plotting something.

Verrina's gaze continues to wander the room. For a brief moment, Feyre thinks her gaze lingers on the place where she stands, long enough to make her uncomfortable, then continues to wander.

Verrina: (still distant) And what do you propose we do about it, Melody?

Melody: We must act, Mother. We can't afford to wait until they make their move. We should summon the Council, discuss the threats openly. Expose their plots before they have a chance to strike.

Verrina finally looks directly at Melody, her gaze piercing.

Verrina: (deeply) And if we do that, what will we gain? We must be patient, Melody. Rushing into action would be foolish.

Melody: (frustrated) Foolish? Mother, they're undermining your authority! They're plotting against us, and you do nothing!

Verrina stands slowly, her demeanor shifting to one of centuries of authority. Her gaze remains fixed firmly on Melody.

Verrina: Melody, you do not understand the games we play. Patience is a virtue. We must wait for the right moment.

Melody: (voice rising) The right moment? Mother, we could lose everything!

Verrina: (calmly) No, Melody. We will not. Trust me.

Melody shakes her head.

Melody: I can't believe this- You're not even concerned!

Verrina: (softly) You don't see everything, Melody. Trust that I have everything under control.

Melody: (exasperated) Fine, Mother. You'll see! I'll prove that I'm right!

Melody storms out of the throne room, leaving Verrina standing alone, her expression unreadable. After several moments, the queen summons her guards, who trail behind her as she leaves the room for her quarters.
