The Planar Anchor is an ancient artifact, a pillar crafted of the smoothest, darkest obsidian. Engraved with Celestial runes, this artifact is seemingly capable of absorbing vast amounts of arcane power. The full extent of its powers are currently unknown.

Function

The full extent of the Planar Anchor's abilities are currently unknown. A series of runes in an ancient dialect of Celestial are engraved on the artifact, reading:

"Bearer of the cosmic weave, heed these words of guidance: Within this ancient spire lies the key to harmonize the strands of time and space. By channeling the ley lines, the this anchor unlocks the gateway to stability. Seek the convergence, embrace the balance, and command the flow of celestial energies to restore order to the fractured realms."

The artifact is seemingly capable of absorbing vast amounts of arcane energy. When the wild god Silvanus was exposed to its presence, the deity seemed to have her magical energies drained. In that moment, the goddess appeared shackled to the obelisk, unable to move or resist.

The Dark War

During the Dark War, the Planar Anchor was found by the Chosen of Del aboard the ha'tak of Supreme System Lord Ra. According to his First Prime Telchak, Ra seemed to believe the artifact was capable of stabilizing the temporal rifts that afflicted Toril in the wake of the Dark Lady's release from her prison by Braethr Delmirev. Ra's plan was to supposedly use the artifact to stabilize Toril and gather the remaining jaffa and System Lords on the planet to aid him in conquering the Seven Isles.

At some point after discovering the artifact, Ra added a series of Goa'uld glyphs to the artifact. Whether the glyphs serve a functional or aesthetic purpose is currently unknown. The glyph's read:

"Jaffa, kree! This obelisk holds the power to control the fabric of existence itself. Only those worthy may harness its might. Align the symbols of the leylines, speak the ancient words of command, and unleash the potential within. The anchor shall bind the threads of chaos and usher in an era of supremacy for the System Lords. So it is written, so it shall be done."

During the Chosen of Del's investigation of Ra's vessel, the druid Fenris Windstrider successfully called upon his god Silvanus for aid. Silvanus appeared in the presence of the Guardian and reacted with shock and horror upon noticing the artifact. Seemingly unable to move or resist, the obelisk began draining the wild god of her magic. Only the timely intervention of Braethr gave her a chance to escape the artifact's grasp.

Upon bestowing her boon to Fenris, Silvanus gave her Guardian and Braethr words of advice about the artifact, cryptically alluding to it's true power.
