The most ancient of myths regarding the creation of the world and the heavens speak of the primordial essence. Within it's crystal sphere, fresh from it's birth by the hand of Lord Ao, the universe existed as chaos and timeless nothingness, a roiling storm of misty shadows, neither dark nor light, as the two had not yet separated.

In time, the primordial essence coalesced into twin Goddesses, identical and beautiful, but polar opposites. Shar, raven-haired and shrouded in darkness, was born to represent the dark, and her sister, Selûne, silver-haired and radiant, manifested as the light.

The twin Goddesses loved and cared for each other deeply, seeing their existence as singular in nature, not separate entities, later becoming known as the Two-Faced Goddess or the Sisters-Who-Were-One. Their opposite nature served to compliment one another and together they brought order into the primordial chaos of existence.

Eventually, the two would become opposed, as Selûne sought to help introduce warmth into the universe, so life could thrive. Shar, desiring nothing more than to return the world to the void before her creation, opposed Selûne's desires.

Selûne, gravely wounded and exhausted by her battle with Shar, would forever see her powers wax and wane, marked by the phases of the moon in the night sky.

Her worshippers, the Selûnite Priesthood, exhibits their devotion by preaching the word of light and radiance, and offering healing services to those in need.

Often the victim of manipulative plots by her sister, Selûne is often battling to preserve the state of light and warmth in the universe.
