Thrari Sapphirebraids

Thrari Sapphirebraids, an elderly dwarf hailing from the Dwarven kingdom, Citadel Adbar, settled in Beregost after being offered a position by Daegon Ezranthir as the town's treasurer. He serves this role and that of a banker, offering an institution where Beregost's inhabitants can store their wealth, for a fee, naturally. 

Thrari offers safety deposit boxes in exchange for a "generous" 10% interest per deposit. Thrari also offers "discretionary deposits", in which clients can make deposits exceeding 500 gp with absolute discretion, no public records attached, in exchange for an additional 20% interest.

Thrari's institution also offers generous loans, however, the fine print establishes very high hidden interest rates and diabolical fees designed to bleed them dry. Thrari is adamant about debt repayment and employs several local men as his collectors, requesting that they collect his money by any means necessary. Late fees are often paid in the form of broken bones or the "surrender" of a particularly expensive heirloom. 

Thrari ultimately cares little for the populace and utilizes his institution as his bargaining tool to maintain his seat on Beregost's city council. He views Daegon Ezranthir as a fool, believing his motives of reestablishing a trading hub to be foolhardy, and would rather see Beregost return to it's roots as a farming and export town. He believes he could impose heavy taxes on the flow of goods in and out of town.
