House Athereon

The High House who have historically ruled over the regions of the Continent of Othis known now as the Crownlands.

House Motto: Rooted in Nature's Bounty

Traits: Slender in stature but tall, the members of this House typically have blond hair and green eyes. They are known for being particularly patient.

Domain: House Athereon is known for their alchemical prowess, owed in part due to the abundance of herbs and plants that grow in the Crownlands. They are in control of the medicine and alchemical trades within the Empire.

History: The current ruling house after a bloody Unification war. House Athereon with the support of House Velaryn, House Alyris and House Sargot; representing the eastern portion of the continent. They gathered their banners behind House Athereon after Brannyen Athereon courted their favor; either through economic means or marriages of his various family members and Lesser Houses. Alliances were formed and the realm went to war.

Three generation have passed since the Unification of the Empire. The current head of House Athereon is Emperor Brynden Athereon, wed to Alys Tarvyn. Their marriage is an unhappy one, as Emperor Brynden is fond of drinking, sleeping around and fighting. Indeed, a good number of children in Cynlond are sired by Brynden.

Political Rivals: In recent years, House Dahlin has been maneuvering to gain more political power within the Empire and has been an abrasive presence for House Athereon.
