The vast and ancient Monyar Forest, which the powerful Sylvadran—a sentient elemental spirit capable of bestowing great powers upon its chosen guardians, the Credran elves—protects, lies on the edge of the Kingdom of Damavand. This realm once extended to the Valley of Aesir, the ancestral home of the Vandian people, from whom the current King Bastien Vand descends.

The Valley of Aesir, a land of breathtaking beauty and rich resources, was historically a center of culture and power in Damavand. Its lush forests, fertile fields, and crystal-clear rivers made it an ideal location for settlement and prosperity. The valley was renowned for its harmony between humans and the Alfar elves, with cities like Lockside serving as vibrant hubs of trade and knowledge.

However, a dark chapter in the valley's history began with the invasion of the monstrous Erborians in 1701 HE. These brutal invaders laid waste to the city of Lockside, enslaving the surviving humans and Alfar elves. The once-thriving region fell into chaos and despair. In this time of great need, a demonurge named Paxis struck a desperate bargain with the devil lord Savinoth, seeking to overthrow the Erborian oppressors. The deal came at a terrible cost: Savinoth's Baalorian minions decimated the population, slaughtering most of the humans and transforming many of the Alfar elves into corrupted Woodshades, doomed to serve the devils.

In the aftermath, five noble Alfar escaped the carnage. Under the leadership of their king, Wristhrelin, they formed the Credran, a dedicated group pledged to defend the forest alongside Sylvadran. They vowed to restore balance and protect the remnants of their homeland. The Woodshades, under the leadership of the fallen elf Mathin the Gray, emerged as their main adversaries. With the aid of the sorceress Enora, they sought to escape Savinoth's control through manipulation and dark arts.

Over the centuries, the valley became a cursed and dangerous wilderness. Other dangers surfaced, including the twisted Warpers, the wrathful undead Moriands, and a magical barrier built by Savinoth's lieutenant, Vorenith, that trapped everyone inside the valley. The once-great valley, now shrouded in darkness and peril, stood as a haunting reminder of the past.

Despite these challenges, hope endured. The tales of his ancestors and the promise of redemption motivated King Bastien Vand to send an expedition west. They came across the ruins of Apix, a place now inhabited by Vandian descendants who had cut ties with Damavand. This discovery ignited a spark of hope. The king now calls upon a heroic party of adventurers to journey into the Valley of Aesir, confront the sinister forces at work, and break the valley's curse.

Can these brave souls defeat the villainous powers, liberate the enslaved, and restore the kingdom to its former glory? The fate of Damavand and the Valley of Aesir rests in their hands.
