Having successfully found a Toxic Blight, the group discuss what to do next while they wait for Vyktor Wyvernjack to finish meditation on his Spellcasting Talent, raising it up to Rank 2. While Sean Shamshara goes back to question Omaron, Valteria Tomser does humorous imitations of him for Boris Hillmens and Vyktor. Upon Sean's return, the group decides they will first visit Magnik and then check out the boarded up house again.
Magnik is his usual "cheery" self. While the others hide outside, Sean approaches the door and tries to play up his reputation in the Kaer. Being known as someone constantly searching for exits, he hoped he could convince Magnik to warm up to him. Magnik, however, remains unconvinced. He tells Sean that he should speak with Elder Meshra if he really wants to find a way out. As the head elder, she must know a secret way out! As Sean approaches the rest of the group, he almost gives away the fact that they were all working together, as Valteri was only hiding next to one of the windows to Magnik's Lab. Valteri quickly covers for him by pretending to slap Sean and demand his money.
Returning to the boarded up house, they search and still find nothing, even after questioning one of the neighbors. Here, Vyktor and Valteri experiment more with the pink and blue crystals Magnik gave them. While they did not notice anything, once again looking through the pink stone caused a sense of disorientation while the blue one did not. Sean began to suspect that this might relate to the nausea from being around the Liferock, since supposedly the pink crystal was attuned to its Pattern.
Since they are still not well-trained in Astral Sensing, they decide to head to the Ygdrask's alchemy lab in the basement of the Training Hall. Before entering, they overhear Ghehennis and Ygdrask arguing about the wrong amount of one thing being put into something else. As they enter, they see Ghehennis with a resigned "what-have-I-signed-up-for" look on his face while Ygdrask rants.
Ygdrask investigates the two crystals for the new Stalwart Stones. He determines that they are useful in making it easier to perceive the Astral Patterns of whatever they are attuned to, but they only work on what they are attuned to. Specifically, the pink rock shares the astral signature of the Liferock while the blue one shares the Pool of Shemara. Aside from that, he gives no other information.
As the team leaves the room, they meet Teran in the hall who is apparently psyching himself up to go inside to talk with Ghehennis. He's hoping that the presence of Ygdrask will help. The team convince him to enter the room and discuss the nausea with the two magicians.
