Daidōji Meru was a Daidōji Heavy Regular shocked into the shame of surrender when the unconventional samurai Moshibaru Mako slaughtered her senior comrade, Masuta. As the Class of 1159 was pressed by Crane reinforcements, Ohaitsu released her in return for an oath that she would not fight for one year. As such, she was appointed as a yōriki to Dōji Kazō, the Crane side of the peace treaty over Friendly Traveler Village.
Meru still bleached her hair and wore her swords to show her heritage, using her armor for safety while out and about, but did not carry her favored axe. After a while, it was found that her frustration had led to a dream-ghost haunting the village, and she committed seppuku.
