The party find their way home and set off towards the veiled hills

Day 16 (evening)
Ruric Ironfoot and Bankanir recover from their ordeal. There's a long discussion about plans and the way forward (or back, as it were). The party discuss the loss of Arinet and what they should do about it. Elnorin stays with Ruric and Heskan whilst Amidir Min'Ath takes Braith to Doru. Here, with support from Amidir's illusions stylised like primitive artwork, Braith tells the city-dwelling Hobgoblins about Arinet's tale so that she may live on in the tradition of her people. Back at the safe house they agree with Syndrid to travel back tomorrow to where they arrived and hope that Drix can be negotiated with, avoided or killed. They also speak with Bankanir about what happened to Arinet, Bankanir is obviously distraught but accepts his duty to the party.
Days 17-21
The party travel. On the second day they meet a pair of angry catoblepas and dispatch them with relative ease. We learn that whilst Ruric still has arcane power, it's application has been somewhat internalised and his power manifest in different ways.
On the final day they reach they pit. Here there is a brief discussion with an illusive Drix. She is seemingly somewhat at odds with Asmodea, despite her past. She deters the party from using the portal as it may draw attention. She is ultimately persuaded not to fight them and lets them go.
In the pit Amidir and Ruric draw deep on their reserves, using staves carved by Syndrid to provide him with power. Syndrid is able the cast the spell and the party return home....

The party arrive in the basement of Syndrid's tower in the mid-morning. Syndrid is gone, seemingly arriving earlier than they did (and shutting down the trap corridor).
On the surface they find that Kartash is a day gone and the horses/mule are all fine. The sun shines. Amidir, with no word or warning, looks wide-eyed at the world around him and takes to the skies. The rest assume he can find them if he wants to. They discuss their next actions. Braith sends a message to a confused Aine Stormsword who has no idea of the ordeal they've been through. Braith's message is short and confusing. The decide that they will follow both Nymbryxion's orders and Kartash's direction of travel.
That evening Heskan meditates over the shield, attempting to find answers to Typhon's mysterious instructions.

The party travel to the north west and encounter a frost giant scout. A brief battle ensues and they subdue the male frost giant who surrenders to them.
