As the festivities got underway Ruric excused himself to practice Sympathy. Heskan tried throat singing and, after some coaching, seemed to get the hang of it. Temujin goes and checks on his people whilst the party find out that the Uufushcal had been turned from their anti-slaving activities at Venta Silarum by Temujin's calling to get to here across the Glas Aigean. Elnorin helps with troop healing. Ruric makes progress in the with river mud. Elnorin enjoys the chance to indulge in the abundant drink available.
Temujin comes back and they discuss something called the Compact from Uufushcal legend. It spoke of the meeting of the people of the plains, he people of the mountain and the people of the river. It was said they came together to drive back darkness and that it was broken when the people of the river refused the call. Temujin also speaks of his dreams of a circlet made of iron and held in hellfire. In his dreams Temujin attempts to break it but cannot. Temujin speaks to Heskan more about Namhias' ailment.
The group retire to bed.

The group wake up. Elnorin, Braith, Heskan and Temujin go to meet Trumwyn whilst Ruric continues work. Gunnric speaks on their behalf and the tiarna agrees to speak to them. Trumwyn seems out of his depth and resentful, especially against his Ri (Isunwulf Silvarbane) who has sent no aid. The attacks have gone on for a couple of months and his focus is on survival. He recommends Wace, a local tracker, to show them the path.
Wace proves to be somewhat straight forward but also very loyal to the Odhran. Wace mentions that the Morini are invading in the south (something the party doubt is true) and explains the route through the woods.
The group gather up and head out, following a small test of Ruric's work on sympathy using Namhias.
The group spend around 4 hours travelling in total before reaching a moss covered pillar of stone. By the pillar a young, Vannin woman protects two wounded villagers against a large plot creature made of dead villagers. The fight is tough but the party win through. The woman introduces herself as Dana of the Regni.
Braith clears the pillar to find inscriptions in three languages (draconic, orcish and druidic). Each is mostly the same but has a different name it is sworn to, The draconic side says;
I Abzu hereby swear my people to the defence of this land. We shall watch the boundaries and protect against the growing shadow. So long as this compact holds my divine life will protect this realm. I swear by my power that my people and I will honour this.
The other two names sworn are that of Deichtine and the Forest Father, to which Braith confirms that Dana is a follower of Deichtine. Dana sees the villagers off towards their home. The group agree to move on towards a cave that Dana indicates is the source of the problem.
The cave itself is fetid and surrounded by various dead creatures overtaken by the plants. The group engage with a wall of fire taking out a good number of the creatures. They see a gnoll armed with a scythe conducting a ritual of sorts. As the battle is joined, he pulls his elite back to guard the cave, covering his flight. The rest of the beast engage. It's not long before they find out that the zombies explode on death (when it's not burned as part of the kill). Dana shows her skill as a tactical fighter whilst Temujin presses on like the find, attacking and moving on. Temujin makes a daring and foolhardy run on the elite guard, although he drops his sword in the melee. The last of the smaller zombies fall and the group prepare to engage the larger ones.
