The party push through the magical research area

21/08/300 (morning)
Following the trouble with the sphere in the previous rooms, the party took a short rest in the corridor. As they attempt to move forward, the door ahead seems to be sealed. There was a lot of suspicion about closing the second door. Eventually they notice that there's a mechanism meaning that only one door could be open at a time.
In the next room was a large pool and two smaller storage rooms whose shelves were slightly corroded. In the middle of the pool was a platform. There was an odd liquid in the pool and as Ruric moved over to look down at it, it rose up into a huge cube of ooze. The group engaged in combat as the ooze turned invisible. Confused the group scatter, to move away from the slow moving ooze. Ruric gets caught by the ooze as he makes a break fro it whilst Elnorin, content that his wall of fire was doing it's task. As he reaches the far side of the room, he gets caught by a second invisible ooze. As the first one is slain, the second grows to gargantuan proportions. Ruric is nearly killed by it. Eventually they kill the second one, the only lasting injury being to Heskan's armour.
The group rest briefly before pushing into the final chamber, an orium engraving on the floor now alive with wild magic. In entering they trip an alarm, not knowing whether the owner of the spell is still alive or present. As Heskan, Elnoring and Ruric explore the ritual chamber, the door between them and their archers closes. Behind Braith and Bankanir a large dwarven golem, driven mad by wild magic, attacks. In a matter of moments it nearly kills Braith and she's saved by Bankanir dragging her out the room. The golem briefly tangles with the others before it's animating spell is dispelled by Elnorin.
The group disagree on how to deal with the golem more permanently. Whilst everyone but Braith is in the other room, Ruric attempts to hack the golem apart. The resultant release of wild magic does a number of things but ultimately results in Ruric being shunted to the ethereal plane. Braith fetches Elnorin whilst Ruric uses his familiar (Brad) to navigate the area. Ruric can see an impression of Elnorin's robe on the plan and manages to interact with it. Elnorin works out where Ruric may be stuck and uses his robe to transport there. Between the robe's power and Ruric's will, he is brought back.
More disagreements follow and the others leave again whilst Braith and Ruric continue. This results in them losing all of their hair (which they later found out was temporary). With the golem destroyed, the magic dissipates. Ruric says that he will work on the problem that evening.
The group explores the rest of the university and gathers a number of basic primers on a number of topics.
In the evening Heskan trains with Sniv and Setze (as well as other aspirants) before they all head to a lesson on the dwarven language with Ruric. Ruric spent the time before the lesson with Ukri (the kobold smith) working on some finer aspects of metallurgy from the recovered primers.
The group sleeps.

During the early hours of the morning Ruric works out how the disarm the wild magic circle and sneaks off. He's successful and goes back whilst the others sleep.
