Following the destruction of the animated clay statue, the party regrouped and search the room. The story of the queen buried here continued as the walls spoke, in hieroglyphics, of her abandonment of the river gods in favour of Kauket.
Tian found a door designed to trap the unwitting and attempted to disable it.
Leading the way, the dragonborn rounded the corner only to be hit by another wave of madness from the haunting ghosts.
Tian saw 6 hand maidens attending the queen as she bowed before a portal. Power burst out from the portal but burned the handmaidens to shadow, leaving the queen alone and empowered.
Back in the real world, Tian has opened his mouth to prepare a breath weapon but stops before he exhales.
The group move on to find a chamber with 5 statues. They find caricature-like statues of Sabba, Sochet, Ahom and Maahet. All four statues are facing away, towards the wall, with the statue of Maahet being given the worst appearance.
Here the walls continue the story speaking of the Queen's ascension and more of the Dagger of Kauket, the Queen's high priest.
The group see the sinister shadows watching but, as they approach the sarcophagus chamber, Batthu begins to speak the runic language of the Old Kingdom. This stirs anger in the spirits as a cold wind blows through the tunnels.
The group find the spirits guarding a sarcophagus and as Batthu asks if they can pay respect to the Queen (again in Old Runic), they afflict her with maddening visions. She sees the Queen surrounded by guards and 6 shadowy spirits. As her son arrives, the guards draw their blades as the Queen looks on, emotionless.
Behind the sarcophagus, hieroglyphs proclaim the Queen as Nefert-iri. The group search round, the ghosts watching on, and find a previously looted room with bodies in it. The room was seemingly looted by the Cult of Sabba whom had slain 4 of the hand maiden spirits before leaving (but did not open the sarcophagus).
As Batthu speaks of the Queen in runic again, the ghosts attack. There is a brief and violent fight but the ghosts are slain.
The group examine the sarcophagus and find that it's sealed with wax. They decide not to open it and that this 'Scarab Queen' should remain at rest.
On the way out they examine the remaining room, which houses the beginning of story and speaks of Nerfert-iri being born the 'blessed of Maahet'. Cefesee takes a set of armour from one of the room and the group prepare to leave.
