Warlocks of the Great Old One Dendar the Night Serpent

Score 121

12/24/17
Dendar the Night Serpent, Eater of the World, is said to be the spawn of the first nightmare, devourer of foul visions, and harbinger of the end of the world. Her warlocks frequently dream of Dendar’s hiss and the dry rasp of her scales when they first realize their potential.

A small sect of Dendar's warlocks are based out of the City of Neverwinter, where they stay reclusive and hidden in ruined portions of the once great coastal city. The sect does not venerate Dendar as a deity or even specifically serve the Night Serpent in deeds. Instead, they view Dendar as an inevitable force of cosmology, existing outside of the world of Toril awaiting the time when entropy will inevitably overtake the Realms and utterly destroy it and all worlds, realms, and all all of existence. In the meantime, the warlocks persevere through trials of madness, growing stronger in power with each iteration bringing them closer to the essence of Dendar, or more often, having their mind utterly consumed by madness upon touching their patron's powerful presence. These maddened members are venerated as elders within the sect and are afforded as much latitude and comfort so long as possible so long as the sect is not endangered. Madness, after all, is the inevitable consequence of Dendar's patronage and will provide a respite from understanding when the Night Serpent returns to swollow the world.
