Damsel of the Lady

Lesandara was captured as a 12 year old, in Caligari where she was studying abroad, and she was taken to a Narlathian prison behind Hai Meri where she was dreaming and imprisoned for eight years. The Company rescued her to fulfill their obligation to Slasher Meg; Maeve stalked the dark prison, broke her out, and helped her escape, aided by an angel Lesandara summoned.
They were deposited on a hillside by a herd of goats in Caligari. When they went to a church for help, the priest declared Lesandara a heretic impostor and tried to capture her for execution. Upon escaping, they followed a goat who led them to a washed-up questing knight, Luke, who was a beggar/thief "living off the land" as though behind enemy lines. He helped them get to Setine, and stayed around until he met Slasher Meg, had an epiphany of sorts, and hit the Road once more with a new sense of purpose.
Lesandara asked the Company to take her home to an estate in southern Scarabae. They obliged, with their flying ship. Arriving during the Blue Goat festival of late winter (7004), they found the house, where her mother had remarried and had teenage twins. (The witch, Crimson Kate, took the twins on long expeditions in other worlds where time moved differently, then used magic to dull the ability to notice they were aging faster than should be possible.) Lesandara's step-father Lord Elias Crembeule did not care much about her one way or another, but her twin step-sisters wanted her dead so she would not interfere with inheritance, and Crimson Kate told them to execute her on the stone table. During her absence, the Iron Boar had been killing and rampaging unchecked, and that was part of the schism in the family (according to one theory.)
Lesandara was protected from the twins by the Company, and confronted Crimson Kate and the Iron Bull at the Island of the Stone Table, robbing it of some of its supernatural heft so the Company could destroy it. Her mother was much more free to not have to live out her life under house arrest, but Lesandara was no longer content to stay in the home that was now strange to her. She agreed to aid the Company in their effort to unravel more mysteries of architectural magic.
Of all the Company, her closest bond seems to be with Rhys, who has been attentive to what she wants in all of this, and to Kail, who is a countryman and believer who has offered her protection. Over the six months of study and preparation ending in the summer of 7005, in Bergstadt, Rhys strengthened their friendship and got to know her better and she read some of the same books Kail was studying, often joining him on his long walks in the countryside and forest.
