Forest's Edge is a bustling, resilient Beastfolk settlement located at the fringe of the Wendertara Forest. Founded as a key outpost, it has quickly grown into a crucial commercial and military hub, shaped by its deep history with the legendary Yip Yip 19 Guardians and its ongoing conflicts against the forces of decay and Misery.

Current Status (Year 2788): A large, prosperous town that has rapidly grown over the last 80 years. It is no longer considered a "no man's country," but a flourishing settlement.

Appearance: Forest's Edge has fully shed its initial identity as a vulnerable outpost, growing into a vibrant, sturdy town that serves as a vital anchor for the Guild Empire within the magical Wendertara Forest. Its architecture reflects a successful, multi-racial community that prioritizes both commerce and defense. The town is a mix of wood-framed buildings from its rustic founding and the newer, permanent structures built with stone and durable timber following decades of stability. A bustling marketplace is the commercial centerpiece, facilitating trade of local forest resources and essential supplies for travelers.

The town proudly showcases its restored strength, featuring a fully functional military barracks that houses its sizable and experienced Guard and Militia. At the heart of the community stands a fully completed Orphanage, enclosed by a protective briar wall, symbolizing hope and commitment to the future. For recreation and martial training, a local arena has been constructed, which is a major attraction that draws competitors from the surrounding regions. Despite its rapid growth, the town maintains a welcoming atmosphere and is renowned for its open-door policy, making it a desirable stopping point for both traders and adventurers venturing into or out of the Wendertara Forest

Local Leadership: The local representative to the Royal Guild is the Headmaster. The current mayor is Gobbik (Frogfolk), a co-founder of the Boundless rebellion.

The Legacy of the Raid and Current Militia

The town's defenses were decimated during the infamous Raid of the Oathbound (circa 2705), a conflict that took place 83 years ago. The resilience of the survivors allowed the eventual restoration of the town.

  • Restoration: Following the raid, the town guard and militia were all but destroyed. They have since been fully restored and are now a sizable and experienced force, dedicated to protecting the town.
  • Militia Leadership:
    • Marvin (Ivork Ginara): The gentle but skilled Captain of the Militia.
    • Stevir: The former private who rose to become the leader of the Town Guard.
    • Xadrix Faedan: The Earth Giant Guardian, a powerful warrior who, after fulfilling his oath, became the local general of the militia.

Impact of Guardian Leadership

The presence of the retired Yip Yip 19 Guardian, Xadrix Faedan, as a general of the militia, proved crucial for the long-term prosperity and military strength of Forest's Edge. Xadrix was instrumental in protecting Forest's Edge during the early crises, specifically the Raid of the Oathbound, leading the defense and successfully banishing the Oathbound. This act ensured the town's survival and prevented further corruption. After the initial chaos, Xadrix stayed in the town and subsequently led the training and rebuilding of the militia. He helped solidify the town's defenses, demonstrating effective military leadership despite no longer possessing his full Guardian power. Having a former Guardian remain in a leadership position gave the town a permanent figure of power and protection, ensuring the town flourished and continued to grow. The town remains prosperous, with a fully restored militia and guard, an arena, and a completed orphanage, demonstrating long-term security and stability.

Survivors of the Raid (Circa 2705)

The original survivors of the raid who remained in Forest's Edge include:

  • Hobloc (Firbolg): A loyal guard dedicated to defending the town.
  • Ravina (Kenku): A skilled fighter who was accepted into Forest's Edge after being outcast from her homeland.
  • Yur'lok (Frogfolk): A skilled cook/pastry chef who lost his left arm fighting kobolds.
  • Bboka (Frogfolk): A talented cook and friend of Yur'lok, whose quick actions saved Yur'lok's life.

  • Quia (Frogfolk): An ex-bandit who volunteered for the militia.
  • Guntrevor Aleseeker (Bugbear): A renowned brewer who often joins the local militia.
