10/30/25Region Overview and Geography
Gadgetoria is a vast ocean kingdom, founded on 9/12/30, that spans from the northern Frozen Waters all the way to the southern waters of the Radiant Ocean. It is now primarily known as the Junk Ocean, a name given by the self-proclaimed ruler, the Junk King, after he polluted the waters and usurped the kingdom from the native Frogfolk.
Gadgetoria was once a technologically advanced kingdom with a mastery of shipbuilding and machines that rivaled anything else on Pangaia. The ocean is dotted with hundreds of islands.
The Cleansing (New Gadgetoria): The northern quadrant of the Junk Ocean has been cleansed, and many now call this area New Gadgetoria. This cleansed region is near the frozen north where the Children of Dreams defeated Cavity and rallied allies, cleansing the area permanently
Races Native to Region
The native race of Gadgetoria is the Frogfolk.
- Frogfolk Capital: Their original capital was Magna Pacific, but it has been renamed Garbage Patch by the Junk King. Their Eldvar is named Gob.
- Sharkin: Their fortress-city is The Crannogs. Their Eldvar is named Mr. Chomps.
- Clamkin: Their iridescent city is Nacreholm. Their Eldvar is named Luma Maris.
- Hippofolk: Their sentient city is Driftwood patrolling the Junk Ocean. Their Eldvar is named Iron-Tusk.
Nonnative Races that are Common
The environment of the Junk Ocean is hostile to non-aquatic races.
- Junk Pirates: The primary non-native inhabitants are various races that have joined the Junk King's pirates and scavengers, though they cannot easily cross the consecrated ground of New Gadgetoria.
- Metalsol and Metalsol Tech: Given the region's mechanical history and the presence of the Metalsol on Pangaia
Race Relations
Relations are defined by the ongoing conflict between the native aquatic races and the Junk King's forces.
- Frogfolk and Allies: The Frogfolk and those who resisted the Junk King remain hidden in their cities using Emergency Protocols. They survive by stealth and by avoiding the Junk King's pollution.
- The Rulers: The Junk King (usurper) rules over the vast majority of the Junk Ocean, relying on his Junk Pirates.
Social Dynamic
The region is a military dictatorship run by the Junk King and his forces, with pockets of technological resistance. The original highly advanced, structured Frogfolk society has been driven underground or into camouflage.
Culture and Society
The dominant culture is that of ruthless scavenging, mechanical augmentation, and piracy, imposed by the Junk King. The underground culture of the native races is one of high-tech preservation and covert planning.
Fashion and Language
- Fashion: The Junk Ocean favors patched clothing, repurposed metal plating, and mechanical enhancements. The native Frogfolk would have worn specialized suits or gear compatible with their advanced technological lifestyle.
- Language(s): The native language would be the Frogfolk Tongue, a language adapted for technical terminology. The dominant language of the Junk Ocean is a corrupted trade dialect.
Calendar, Holidays, and Observances
There are no known native holidays. The Frogfolk's advanced culture observed scientific or technical milestones. Under the Junk King, any new observances would center on his victories or displays of junk power.
Religion
- Dominant Religion: The Junk King has suppressed the worship of the native Eldvar.
- Priesthood Power: The native Eldvar, such as Gob, are revered as creators and saviors. Gob himself is famous for reading the Dreamer Oath and creating the Reality Compass, placing him at the center of the region's spiritual and technological lore.
Art
- Architecture: The native architecture was advanced and stunning, as seen in the Frogfolk's great cities and machines. The current dominant architecture consists of structures made of repurposed junk, with floating or submerged structures being common.
- High Art: Before the fall, the art would have been precision engineering and advanced robotics. Now, the high art is the construction of bizarre, functional war machines from scrap.
Taboo and traditions common to region.
- Frogfolk Taboo: Revealing the location of a camouflaged city or abandoning the Emergency Protocols.
- Junk King Tradition: Scavenging and polluting are likely key parts of the new "culture."
Laws and Leadership of Region
The region is a tyrannical dictatorship. The Junk King is the ultimate authority, having usurped leadership from Gob. His laws are enforced by the Junk Pirates and mechanical patrols.
Laws Governing Magic
Magic is secondary to technology, but the power of Gob and his enchantments (such as the protection of the waters around New Gadgetoria) are vital. Any magic not related to the Junk King's control is suppressed.
Alliances
The Junk King has no allies among the native races of Pangaia, but his power is a threat to all. The native aquatic races (Frogfolk, Sharkin, Clamkin) have secret alliances to resist the Junk King.
Politics and Social Structure
The structure is a simple two-tier system: the Junk King and his loyalists, and the oppressed or hidden native races. The original Frogfolk society was a vast and powerful kingdom.
Influential Power Groups
- The Junk King's Fleet: The primary ruling power group.
- Gob's Resistance Cells: Covert groups of Frogfolk and allies who use the camouflage technology and enchanted waters to survive and plan.
- The Frogfolk Eldvar (Gob): Though dethroned, his knowledge of the Dreamer Oath and his creation of the Reality Compass make him the spiritual and strategic leader of the resistance against the Junk King.
Interest and Influence with World
The Junk Ocean is a major threat to world peace and trade. Its existence disrupts maritime trade and pollutes the waters. The native races, particularly Gob, wield high influence with the overarching campaign meta-narrative, as they are waiting for the Children of Dreams (the Players) to arrive and defeat the Junk King.
Economy of Region
- What makes the country money? Scavenged, repurposed technology, and scrap metal are the primary economy. Piracy and raiding trade routes are also essential.
- Local Resources: Metals (scrap), unique aquatic life, and advanced, abandoned technology.
- Currency System: Barter is likely common, with rare, functioning pieces of technology or precious metal being high-value currency.
Military and Guilds
- Military Presence: The military is a non-centralized, but highly effective, collection of Junk Pirates and mechanically augmented warriors.
- Magic in Military: Technology is the primary "magic" here, utilizing the Frogfolk's advanced knowledge for war machines and weaponry.
Overview of the Land
- Flora, Fauna, and Weather: The ocean is polluted and choked with scrap, though the Frogfolk and other native aquatic races are adapted to it. The New Gadgetoria quadrant is a recent success story of a cleansed region.
- Uncivilized Humanoids: Mutated creatures and technologically augmented sea monsters are common threats.
Unique Features or Landmarks
- Garbage Patch (Magna Pacific): The capital city, a vast buoyant city of interconnected lily pads and floating structures.
- The Crannogs: Sharkin fortress-city on a volcanic atoll.
- Nacreholm: Clamkin city built into a colossal coral reef.
- Junk Cave: A notable cavern or dungeon complex.
- The Tower of Rot: The structure that appeared just before the Junk King took over, marking the beginning of the kingdom's fall.
Rich History and Important NPCs
Gadgetoria was once a powerful Frogfolk kingdom with mastery over technology. The fall began with the appearance of the Tower of Rot. Eldvar Gob, who had read the Dreamer Oath, knew what was coming. He instructed his people to enact Emergency Protocols to camouflage their cities and remain hidden, waiting for the Children of Dreams to arrive. He protected the remaining villages by enchanting the northern waters, creating New Gadgetoria. Since then, the kingdom has been known as the Junk Ocean.

- The Junk King: The primary villain and usurper who polluted the ocean and now rules.
- Mr. Chomps: Sharkin Eldvar.
- Luma Maris: Clamkin Eldvar.
