The temple of Abbathor was a temple structure built into the rocky formation within the Sword Mountains, dedicated to Abbathor, dwarven deity of greed. It was situated in a cleft within the mountains about 8 km northwest of Phandalin. While it was a rather small structure, the temple featured a number of hidden doors and passageways. The easternmost chamber, known as the Hall of Greed, held a valuable looking but trapped gem, that would cause an explosion if disturbed. On 4/6/1001 Norbus Ironrune and Dazlyn Grayshard discovered the temple but was not wanting to fight ochre jellies that roamed the site inside. The next day Tresendar estate came to warn of the approaching white dragon, Cryovain, that has been seen flying around. Norbus Ironrune and Dazlyn Grayshard both decided to hire Tresendar estate to clear the temple for them. The payment was a set of sending stones they found while going through the ruined settlement earlier. After clearing the temple and getting ready to start researching the site more, eight orcs from the Dark Web Orc tribe attacked the group.  Norbus Ironrune and Dazlyn Grayshard both went inside the temple to avoid being attacked. Tresendar estate killed all but one orc that surrendered. They told that orc to leave the area and not returned.
