Medea is most loved and respected goddess in the World of Gordovia, but something evil is afoot. On at least two occasions, but probably more, Medea priestess have risen up against their patients and slit their throats.

The authorities are trying to keep this a secret, but they cannot contain the rumors. People are scared, and the Medea Hospitals, once a sanctuary for all, have become a place to be feared.

On May 10, 4065 I.Y., 509 A.Y., 99 G.Y., Sister Joan is interrogated, but reveals very little. That night, she escapes and ambushes Isterial, Chauncey, and Mother Superior while they are searching the Convent for clues. Then she makes her way to the Oily Troll, and barely gets away when the trolls attack. Serq tries to track her, but loses her during the confusion.
