Ash Fall

More than 1,400 years ago, Evermorn was cast into a decade long winter, often called the Gloom, when ash filled the skies and darkened the land.  Sycharia bore the brunt of the devastation as the source of the Gloom originated in what is now Tidestone.  As legend tells, civilization was cast into ruin as all but the most northern regions rarely saw the sun.  Regular and powerful quakes destroyed both above ground and underground structures.  No formal governments survived and very little remains from the time before. All the kingdoms of the elves fell during this time and no pure-blooded elf has been seen in Sycharia since.  Some say the only records of the time before are lost in the Ischarlin Wilds. "Ash Fall" or AF or A.F. is how people in Evermorn refer to the current age. The current year is 1419 A.F.  Years before Ash Fall are referred to as Before Ash Fall or BFE or B.F.E..
