Takaran Guard

The Takaran Guard were made up of 20 legions of over 1,000 troops each in the height of the Khaori Empire. As the empire fell into darkness, the ranks dwindled until fewer than 1,000 based at the Fortress of Jylan Tak.  The Armies of the Nameless eventually drove them to a final battle near the gates of the might citadel. 

As discovered by the Atra's Expeditioners, in a last battle with only 100 hobgoblin troops remaining under the command of Captain Bahgrash, they swore an oath to die by the sword to defend the honor of their patron. Denied their oath, as the thousands of elven troops charged their position, the Cataclysm overtook them all.  They perished in fear and sorrow and were cursed to live in undeath repeating their last battle each night to defend the fortress.  Finally, the Expeditioners were only the second group to survive the ruined fortress' defenses and faced Captain Bahgrash ending his watch forever.
