Silverymoon

As the prime signatory of the Confederation of the Silver Marches, Silverymoon is regarded by many as the de facto capital of the alliance. A city of grace, learning, and magic, it has long stood as a beacon of civilization in the otherwise untamed wilderness of the North.

For centuries, Silverymoon was ruled by High Lady Alustriel Silverhand, a powerful wizard, one of the legendary Seven Sisters, and a Chosen of Mystra, the goddess of magic. Under her leadership, the city flourished, becoming not only a center of governance but also a sanctuary of knowledge, arcane mastery, and cultural refinement.

Often called "The Gem of the North," Silverymoon is renowned for its rich tradition of magic. Wizards, sorcerers, and scholars from across Faerun seek refuge within its shimmering wards, drawn by its vast libraries, legendary arcane institutions, and the wisdom of its magical elite.

One of the city’s most famous landmarks is the Moonbridge, a permanent magical construct that spans the River Rauvin, shimmering with ethereal light. This bridge, composed entirely of solidified moonlight, is a marvel of both artistry and enchantment, symbolizing the grace and wonder that permeate Silverymoon.

The River Rauvin divides Silverymoon into two distinct halves:

Northbank: The Old City

• The older and more prestigious section of the city, shaped like a half-circle enclosed by strong walls.
• Features three grand gates at the west, north, and east.
• The Market, a vast commercial district, cuts through the heart of Northbank, connecting the city wall to the Docks along the river.
• The High Palace, seat of governance, rises on the eastern edge, a fortress of elegance and power where the rulers of Silverymoon have resided for centuries.
• Temples and noble estates are concentrated in the eastern districts, serving as centers of worship and influence.

Southbank: The Seat of Knowledge

• Originally a hub for caravans and warehouses, Southbank has expanded into a thriving district nearly rivaling Northbank in size.
• Houses most of the arcane academies and institutions that make up the famed Conclave of Silverymoon, a collective of magical schools and research halls.
• A growing cultural and scholarly hub, attracting students, artisans, and intellectuals.

Legends speak of dwarven tunnels running beneath Silverymoon’s streets, remnants of a forgotten era. Some say they house hidden chambers of lost knowledge, while others believe they serve as secret escape routes, vaults, or even passages to the Underdark. Whatever the truth may be, the depths of Silverymoon remain a mystery to all but a select few.
