Vymora, the third planet from the twin suns Solaryn, the Keeper of Harmony, and Pyrelith, the Ember of Creation, is a celestial jewel in Realmspace. Encircled by the twin moons Lunaris, the Silver Moon, and Noctyra, the Shadowed Moon, it is further watched over by the Zythros Constellations, a protective celestial array. This breathtaking world pulses with elemental forces, teeming with life, mortals, and majestic dragons that embody the planet's primal magic. Every aspect of Vymora reflects its intimate connection to the Great Dragon Velkrithar, whose divine essence shaped its creation. The planet's varied landscapes, from fiery volcanic peaks and enchanted forests to shimmering deserts and vast oceans, mirror the powerful energies imbued into it. Vymora thrives as a harmonious yet dynamic realm where elemental magic, mortal ambition, and the legacy of dragons interweave to craft an ever-evolving story of balance, wonder, and discovery.

Geography

The supercontinent of Velkaryn hosts a breathtaking array of biomes, regions, and territories, each uniquely shaped by Vymora's elemental magic and the influence of the Great Dragon Velkrithar. The Infernal Spires are a landscape of volcanic peaks and plateaus, alive with fiery activity and shrouded in clouds of ash, reflecting the raw, untamed energy of fire. Adjacent to these fiery lands lie the Verdant Wilds, an enchanted forest spanning millions of square miles, where vibrant flora, magical beasts, and ancient mysteries thrive in harmony. The Sunlit Plains stretch across vast expanses, their golden fields and rolling hills basking in perpetual sunlight, symbolizing abundance and life.

To the southeast lies Auranyth, a region renowned for its golden coasts, fertile deltas, and thriving maritime trade. Its peninsulas and islands are shaped by a perfect blend of terrestrial and oceanic magic, offering a lush and vibrant landscape that attracts both mortals and dragons alike. To the east, the Crystal Wastes glitter with Vyrmyst crystals, a stark desert that shimmers with mystical light, offering secrets buried beneath its arid sands. The Frigid Expanse dominates the north with icy tundras, glacial cliffs, and snow-covered peaks, embodying the harsh yet serene beauty of cold. Towering above Velkaryn are the Floating Islands, a marvel of elemental magic where some islands drift freely in the sky, while others are anchored to the land by colossal, vine-like roots that climb the mountains below.

Surrounding the continent, the Endless Oceans dominate the majority of Vymora’s surface, brimming with aquatic life, submerged ruins, and the secrets of sea dragons. Beneath Velkaryn lies the Underdark, a labyrinthine subterrain region of caves, chasms, and shadowed enclaves, home to both perilous creatures and hidden civilizations. These diverse and magical regions collectively define Velkaryn as a realm of elemental harmony, contrast, and wonder, each playing a vital role in the tapestry of Vymora's story.

The Weave

The Weave of Vymora is an intricate and living matrix of magical energy, binding the physical and metaphysical elements of the planet into a harmonious whole. Forged by Velkrithar during the creation of Vymora, the Weave serves as both a source of power and a stabilizing force, connecting all life, elemental energy, and celestial bodies. It flows along ley lines, creating nexuses of concentrated magic, and adapts to the natural rhythms of the world, such as the shifting elemental seasons and the phases of the twin moons, Lunaris and Noctyra. The Weave's threads are both conduits and a reflection of the planet’s vitality, enabling mortals and dragons to channel arcane energy while embodying the delicate balance between creation and destruction.

While the Weave is a source of incredible power and harmony, it is also fragile, having been fractured and mended throughout Vymora's tumultuous history. These disruptions, such as the catastrophic Sundering during the Age of Shattered Skies, created lasting anomalies like dead-magic zones and wild magic areas that destabilize the natural order. In the Current Era, the Weave’s slow reformation symbolizes a fragile hope for the planet’s future, as dragons and mortals work together to restore its balance. Despite their efforts, the Weave remains vulnerable to corruption and exploitation, particularly from entities like Nyxtherion and reckless mortals. The Weave stands as both the heart of Vymora’s magic and a testament to the interconnectedness of its creation, embodying the eternal struggle to maintain balance in a dynamic and evolving world.

Draconic Cycle

The Draconic Cycle serves as Vymora's calendar system, a timekeeping framework rooted in the movements of its celestial bodies and the elemental rhythms of the planet. A full cycle consists of twelve months, each named after a dragon lineage or elemental domain, aligning with the changing elemental seasons and celestial events, such as the phases of the twin moons, Lunaris and Noctyra. Each month spans 30 days, with the cycle totaling 360 days, reflecting the balance between the twin suns, Solaryn and Pyrelith, and the harmonious interplay of light, shadow, and elemental magic. The cycle is divided into four elemental seasons—Fire, Water, Earth, and Air—each influencing the planet’s natural rhythms and magical potency. Special days, such as solstices and celestial alignments with the Zythros Constellations, are celebrated as sacred events, marking transitions and milestones in the year. The Draconic Cycle is more than a measure of time; it embodies the harmony of Vymora’s creation, connecting its inhabitants to the rhythms of their world and the legacy of the Great Dragon Velkrithar.

Wyrm Council

The Wyrm Council is a governing body of eight ancient dragons, each representing one of the primary dragon lineages: celestial, chromatic, gem, metallic, oceanic, planar, terrestrial, and undead. Formed during the Age of Shattered Skies to restore balance after the catastrophic Eclipse of Wyrms, the council mediates conflicts among dragons and safeguards the elemental stability of Vymora. Operating from the floating Aetheris Spire, a majestic sanctuary accessible only by flight or powerful magic, the council serves as the ultimate authority on matters of dragonkind, elemental forces, and the preservation of the Weave. Each dragon delegate is accompanied by a Second, a proxy from their lineage who provides support and serves as a substitute when necessary, ensuring continuity and diverse perspectives within the council.

The Wyrm Council’s mission extends beyond dragonkind, fostering alliances with mortals to address shared threats and maintain harmony across Vymora. They have been instrumental in mitigating crises such as planar rifts, Abyssal incursions, and the corruption of the Weave. Symbolized by an eight-headed dragon forming an infinity loop around a sphere representing Vymora’s twin suns, the council embodies unity, balance, and resilience. In the Current Era, the council focuses on reforming the Weave, curbing the rise of necromantic forces, and addressing the growing influence of Nyxtherion. Their enduring legacy is one of collaboration and vigilance, a testament to the shared responsibility of mortals and dragons to protect their world from chaos and destruction.

History

The history of Vymora is a tapestry woven from the threads of creation, conflict, and renewal, shaped by the elemental forces of the Great Dragon Velkrithar and the countless lives that followed. From the fiery birth of the planet to the rise of dragons and mortals, each era has left an indelible mark on the world, forging its landscapes, cultures, and destinies. As the planet evolved, the delicate balance between creation and destruction defined its journey, with each age bringing challenges that tested the resilience of its inhabitants. To understand Vymora’s present and its potential future, one must look back at the pivotal eras that shaped its path.

Primordial Era (PE)

The Primordial Era marks the genesis of Vymora, a time when Velkrithar, the Great Dragon, forged the planet from the void using her immense elemental power. The twin suns, Solaryn and Pyrelith, illuminated the newborn world, while Lunaris and Noctyra orbited to create a balance of light and shadow. Velkrithar's scales became Vyrmyst crystals, her blood infused the seas with magic, and her breath shaped the twin suns and celestial constellations of Zythros. During this era, elemental forces roared unchecked, and dragons emerged as the planet’s first and most powerful beings, their forms reflecting the untamed power of their surroundings. Vymora's lands, oceans, and skies were in constant flux, as the raw essence of creation clashed with chaos to form the foundation of the world. It culminated in the Sundering of the Void, a cataclysmic battle between Velkrithar and Nyxtherion that shaped Vymora's ley lines and imprisoned Nyxtherion in the Deep Abyss.

Draconic Epoch (DE)

The Draconic Epoch saw the rise of dragons as the dominant force on Vymora, shaping its cultures, magic, and civilizations. The Wyrm Council was established to mediate disputes among dragonkind and maintain balance between the elemental forces. Dragons, embodying the natural elements of the planet, governed regions that reflected their powers, becoming both protectors and rulers of their domains. However, the era was also marred by conflict, as rivalries among dragons and mortals, the lingering energies of the Abyssal Maw, Nyxtherion, threatened the harmony Velkrithar had envisioned.

Age of Mortal Awakening (MA)

The Age of Mortal Awakening marked the advent of mortal species, created by Velkrithar and influenced by the elemental forces of the world. Aasimar, elves, dwarves, beastkin, and others began to thrive, forming diverse civilizations in the shadow of dragonkind. Mortals sought to harness the Weave, the planet’s magical fabric, developing their own arts, religions, and technologies. Though dragons initially viewed mortals as lesser beings, some established alliances, while others saw them as threats to their dominion. This era was a time of innovation and discovery, but also of tension, as mortals began to challenge the dragons’ authority and explore the limits of their power.

Age of Shattered Skies (SS)

The Age of Shattered Skies was a period of upheaval and devastation. The catastrophic Eclipse of Wyrms destabilized the elemental forces, shattering the delicate balance maintained by the Wyrm Council. This led to the rise of the Shadow Maw cult and planar rifts that unleashed destructive entities into the world. The Wyrm Council convened to restore balance, sealing rifts and forging pacts with mortals, culminating in the Concord of Scales. However, the scars of this era were deep, with entire regions laid waste and the Weave permanently damaged. The age marked the beginning of a fragile coexistence between mortals and dragons, as both struggled to recover and prevent further calamity.

Current Era (CE)

In the Current Era, Vymora stands as a testament to resilience and renewal, though challenges remain. The Wyrm Council continues to guide the planet, addressing challenges like the Reformation of the Weave and necromantic uprisings. Mortal civilizations have flourished, creating thriving cities and cultures, though tensions with dragons persist. The rise of the Iron Spiral cult and whispers of Nyxtherion’s influence have reignited fears of a new cataclysm. Yet hope endures, as alliances between mortals and dragons strengthen, and heroes rise to protect the world from darkness. The year 1,500 CE is a time of cautious optimism, where the lessons of the past guide the actions of the present to secure Vymora's future.
