In 2040, Tenochtitlan stands as the heart of Aztlan, a nation that continues to be ruled by the towering influence of Aztechnology. The city’s skyline is dominated by the massive Aztechnology Pyramid, a towering edifice that reaches over 700 meters into the sky, casting its shadow over a city that is both ancient and modern, blending the remnants of Aztec history with the cutting-edge technology of a corporate dystopia. Aztechnology is the undisputed master of the city, and it is nearly impossible to separate the corporation from the city itself; it is both a business empire and a ruling authority, influencing everything from politics to law enforcement to the media.

Despite Aztechnology’s grip on Tenochtitlan, there are many forces vying for control, both inside the city and beyond its borders. Rival corporations like Aetherium, SyncoPharm, and Tyrant Industries are all eager to get a foothold in this important and lucrative market, waging corporate wars that spill out into the streets and the courtrooms. Aztechnology’s monopoly on the city’s wealth and resources is threatened by these competitors, especially Aetherium, whose rise has led to a dangerous and bitter rivalry. Accusations of industrial espionage, sabotage, and underhanded deals are commonplace in the cutthroat world of corporate warfare.

In this environment, the supernatural lurks just beneath the surface, casting a shadow of its own over Tenochtitlan. The city is recognized as the headquarters of the vampiric Sabbat, particularly the Children of Tenochtitlan, a bloodline that traces its roots to the ancient Aztec gods. These vampires are powerful and manipulative, exerting control over key sectors of the city’s underworld and business world. They are not content with simply feeding on the living but use the city’s chaos and corruption as a way to consolidate their own power. The Sabbat's influence permeates the highest echelons of Tenochtitlan’s criminal underworld, where the corporation’s corruption, drug cartels, and the supernatural world intertwine in a dangerous dance of control, murder, and manipulation.

The cartels of Tenochtitlan have evolved beyond simple drug trafficking. Once a force controlling the flow of narcotics, today they are corporate giants, holding sway over illegal arms trade, human trafficking, sex services, and counterfeit goods. These cartels, such as Los Templarios, La Familia, and Los Zetas, control major highways, ports, and border cities, using their wealth to manipulate both the government and the media. Their influence runs deep within the political system, with high-level lobbyists and agents working in the shadows to manipulate public opinion and ensure the continued flow of profits. Street gangs, once considered small-time criminals, now operate as feeder organizations for the cartels, fighting for control over smaller territories and resource hubs.

In some parts of the city, such as the Tenochtitlan slums and the Outer Rings, large, distrustful populations have formed people’s militias to protect themselves from the police—who are often seen as agents of the cartel—and from the corporate police forces employed by Aztechnology itself. The resulting civil unrest is constant, with skirmishes and turf wars erupting almost daily in the streets. Gangs such as the Cholos, Tequila Sunrise, and The Skulls are notorious for their control over the most dangerous sectors of the city, battling each other for supremacy in the shadows of Tenochtitlan’s towering corporate structures. These gangs, along with the corporate-backed mercenaries, are often the first line of defense for ordinary citizens who are caught in the crossfire of the cartel wars.

Meanwhile, the city itself is a hotbed of supernatural activity, much of it hidden in plain sight. Tenochtitlan is home to a variety of mystical and esoteric cults, many of which trace their origins back to the ancient Aztec gods. Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent and one of the most powerful dragons in the world, watches over all of Aztlan, although she prefers to keep to the shadows. She rarely makes herself known, but her influence is felt everywhere—from the sprawling sacred jungles outside the city to the pyramid temples scattered throughout the urban landscape. Quetzalcoatl’s presence is subtle but undeniably powerful, often shaping the course of events in mysterious ways. Her long-reaching influence extends through Aztechnology, whose ties to the ancient Aztec pantheon are well known, though the exact nature of this connection is shrouded in secrecy.

In the Astral Plane, the city is a polluted wasteland, where the energy of Aztlan’s ancient past mingles uneasily with the vast, ever-expanding corporate presence of Aztechnology. Astral pollutants, remnants of old rituals, curses, and the aggressive exploitation of technomancy by corporations like Aztechnology, have turned much of the astral space above the city into a twisted, toxic realm. The interplay between the corporate-driven exploitation of magic and the ancient forces of the land creates a volatile environment, one that many sorcerers, shamans, and mystics try to navigate. For most, the Astral Plane is a place of danger, a landscape of fractured memories and decaying rituals. The Sabbat, too, has left its mark on the astral plane, with powerful vampire lords and blood mages performing dark rituals in hidden sanctuaries scattered throughout the city. Some say that Tenochtitlan’s very Astral fabric is the site of an ongoing battle between ancient forces and the cutting-edge technologies of the future.

Despite the threats from rival corporations, drug cartels, and supernatural factions, Tenochtitlan remains a hub of opportunity and power. For some, the city is a place to rise through the ranks, whether by cutting deals with Aztechnology, joining the ranks of the Sabbat, or aligning with a powerful cartel. For others, it is a city of rebellion, a place to take back control from the powerful forces that have dominated for so long. Underground organizations, including hackers, mercenaries, and freedom fighters, operate in the dark corners of the city, fighting against both the corporate overlords and the supernatural powers that haunt Tenochtitlan’s streets.

In 2040, Tenochtitlan stands on the precipice of change. The old world of Aztec mysticism, drug cartels, and corporate control still thrives, but new forces are emerging from the shadows. As Aetherium, SyncoPharm, and others attempt to unseat Aztechnology, the city is plunged into a dangerous struggle for supremacy. On the streets and in the boardrooms, blood will be spilled, alliances will be made and broken, and ancient gods will clash with the forces of the modern world. The people of Tenochtitlan, caught between corporate greed, supernatural terror, and the lingering legacy of ancient Aztec powers, will determine the fate of this once-great city.

Tenochtitlan, where ancient gods and powerful corporations fight for control, is not a city for the faint of heart. It is a city where the lines between the mortal, the corporate, and the supernatural blur, and only the most ruthless and cunning can survive.
