02/03/25The year is 2040, and Alaska is no longer the rugged frontier that once symbolized human perseverance against nature's harsh beauty. The wilderness that defined it has been consumed, its breathtaking landscapes transformed into an alien nightmare dominated by the Anchorage Hive. What was once a bustling port city is now a grotesque monument to the Hive's power—a sprawling labyrinth of tunnels, organic spires, and bioluminescent horrors, all emanating from the pulsing will of the Hive Tyrant.
Anchorage, the heart of this infestation, has become unrecognizable. The ground is alive, shifting underfoot as alien growths spread unchecked. The sky above is choked with toxic gases, and rivers run thick with biotic sludge. The Hive creatures, ranging from the predatory Genestealers to the hulking Carnifexes, patrol its borders, ensuring that nothing escapes and nothing interferes with their relentless expansion.
Yet, Alaska is only a part of a larger, fractured world. To the west lies Russia, a shattered shadow of its former self, where desolation and chaos reign. Siberia is a barren wasteland of irradiated tundra, scattered with scavenger factions like the Forsaken and the Frostborn. The once-proud city of Moscow has been reduced to ruins, dominated by Stroye militias vying for control. In Petrograd, a city clinging to survival amid the chaos, opportunists and engineers forge fragile alliances to endure the ever-present threat of extinction.
Alaska and Russia share a grim bond—both scarred by the Anchorage Hive’s kindred horrors and haunted by the Programma Supermena's remnants. This Soviet-era initiative left behind a legacy of enhanced humans like Ivana Sergeyevna Volkova, a key figure in Alaska’s resistance. But whether she represents salvation or further damnation is a question no one can yet answer.
The Survivors
At Fort Wainwright, one of the last bastions of human life in Alaska, an uneasy alliance of scavengers, soldiers, and refugees struggles to hold back the tide. Once a military outpost, the fort now serves as a lifeline for those who refuse to abandon their homeland. Its leader, Sergeant Marcus "Ironclad" Boone, is a man hardened by decades of war and loss. Boone's gruff demeanor and ruthless pragmatism have earned him respect—and fear. He knows that survival demands sacrifices, and he is willing to make them, no matter the cost.
Among Boone's ranks is Dr. Elena Kavros, a biologist who defected from Arctic Watch—a secretive international organization tasked with studying and containing the Hive. Elena once believed in Arctic Watch's mission, but the horrors she witnessed in their experiments shattered her faith. Now, she dedicates her life to understanding the Hive, hoping to find a weakness that could save Alaska—or at least give its people a fighting chance.
Beyond Fort Wainwright lies a more enigmatic ally—Ivana Sergeyevna Volkova, a former agent of Russia's Programma Supermena. Born in Petrograd and trained in Moscow, Ivana was one of the "wolves" created to serve the Soviet Union’s vision of superhuman soldiers. Her enhanced physical abilities, tactical brilliance, and unyielding will made her a standout operative, but the collapse of the USSR left her without a purpose. After escaping from Russia’s ruins and the shadow of the Black Hammer Stroye in Tula, she and her band of Russian defectors, known as the Druzhina, sought refuge in the Alaskan wilderness.
Ivana’s past is steeped in blood and betrayal. She once served alongside the Stroye factions now dominating Russia, including the ruthless Black Hammer militia led by the infamous Irina Nikitina. Yet, after defecting, she has dedicated herself to eradicating the Anchorage Hive, though her true motives remain hidden. Some see her as a savior, while others suspect she seeks to exploit the Hive's biology for her own ends—perhaps even to resurrect the dreams of the Programma Supermena in a world broken enough to embrace it.
The Anchorage Hive
Anchorage itself is a place of nightmares, ruled by the Hive Tyrant—a creature of immense power and intelligence. This towering monstrosity is the embodiment of the Hive's collective will, orchestrating its expansion with chilling precision. Its reach extends far beyond the city, with Hive tendrils creeping into the Alaskan wilderness, corrupting everything in their path.
The Hive is not merely a collection of monsters; it is an ecosystem unto itself. Genestealers lurk in the shadows, ambushing unwary survivors. Hormagaunts swarm in overwhelming numbers, driven by a single-minded instinct to destroy. Rippers, small but voracious, devour anything organic, leaving only barren wastelands in their wake. These creatures are not just enemies—they are the Hive's tools, each serving a specific purpose in its relentless quest for dominance.
The Hive's influence is insidious, its corruption spreading like a disease. Forests rot and collapse under the weight of alien growths. Rivers and lakes are poisoned, their waters teeming with microbial life that serves the Hive's needs. Even the air is dangerous, thick with spores that choke out all but the hardiest forms of life.
The Global Shadow
Though the Anchorage Hive is Alaska’s primary threat, its presence is part of a broader, global nightmare. The hives in Manitoba and Chicago mirror Anchorage’s devastation, their creatures spreading destruction across North America. In Russia, the Stroye militias fight for dominance in what remains of Moscow, Tula, and Norilsk, often scavenging advanced weapons or sacrificing survivors to hold onto power.
General Karpov’s Bloodrunners rule the corridors of Vorkuta, where slavers and raiders exploit survivors for profit and power. Meanwhile, the Forsaken of Siberia and the Frostborn of the tundra represent what humanity might become—a fractured species, surviving only by embracing the wasteland’s cruelty.
It is this fractured world that has shaped Ivana Volkova and her Druzhina. Their journey from Petrograd to Alaska mirrors the struggles of humanity itself—a fight to reclaim purpose in a world on the brink of being reshaped by forces beyond comprehension.
The Fight for Alaska
The struggle against the Hive is not merely a battle for survival—it is a battle for humanity's soul. In the face of overwhelming odds, the survivors must decide what they are willing to sacrifice to protect their world. Some, like Sergeant Boone, believe in fighting to the last breath, no matter how hopeless the cause. Others, like Dr. Kavros, seek to understand the Hive, hoping to turn its own biology against it.
And then there are those, like Arctic Watch’s Director Matthew Graves, who see the Hive as an opportunity. To them, the Hive represents evolution, a chance to transcend humanity's limitations—even if it means becoming something less than human.
Amidst this chaos, the Druzhina carve their own path, navigating the treacherous waters of survival and revenge. Ivana Volkova, haunted by her past and driven by an unyielding will, stands at the crossroads of these factions, her actions shaping the fate of Alaska and beyond.
