Tolandria: The Ancient Seat of Humanity

Overview: Tolandria, a nation of grandeur and tradition, stands as a beacon of human civilization on the continent of Asmora. The people of Tolandria proudly claim their land as the cradle of the first human nation, a belief that fosters a deep sense of pride and duty among its citizens. This claim, however, is contested by the First Sultanate and the Empire of Absolom, both of which share similar origins and ancient lineages.

Modeled loosely after the ancient Roman Empire, Tolandria's society is steeped in tradition, with a political system that echoes the senatorial governance of old. The nation's architecture, military, and even its fashion draw inspiration from this ancient civilization, giving Tolandria a unique blend of classical elegance and martial discipline.

Geography: Tolandria is a vast and diverse land, with its six major cities serving as the heart of its provinces. Each city is known for its distinct contributions to the nation's wealth, culture, and power.

  1. City of Pharos:

    • Province: Pharosia
    • Notable Features: Pharos is renowned as the home of the Tolandrian Institute of the Arcane, a prestigious institution that draws scholars and mages from all corners of the world. The city's architecture is a testament to Tolandria's dedication to the magical arts, with towering spires and intricate carvings depicting arcane symbols. The city is represented in the Senate by Senator Marcus Falx, a man known for his wisdom and strategic mind. His daughter, Sentia Falx, is a rising star within the Institute, showing great promise as a scholar of magic.
  2. City of Flavia Solva:

    • Province: Lunia
    • Notable Features: Flavia Solva is the beating heart of Tolandria's textile industry. The city is famed for producing the finest textiles in Asmora, particularly luxurious fabrics such as silk and linen. The artisans of Flavia Solva have perfected the art of dyeing, creating vibrant colors that are unmatched in their richness and durability. These textiles are a major export, bringing wealth and prestige to the city. Senator Octavius, a shrewd politician with a keen sense for trade, represents the city in the Senate.
  3. City of Florentia:

    • Province: Vindinia
    • Notable Features: Often hailed as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Florentia is a cultural hub that attracts artists from across Asmora. The city is dotted with galleries and studios where aspiring artists vie for the chance to display their work. The pinnacle of artistic achievement in Florentia is to have one's work exhibited in the Galleria Aurelia, a renowned gallery named for its golden prestige. Senator Lucius, a patron of the arts and a lover of beauty, represents Florentia in the Senate.
  4. City of Antipolis:

    • Province: Colonia Erse
    • Notable Features: Antipolis is a city of strategic importance, serving as a military stronghold and a key trading port. Its walls are fortified, and its streets are lined with barracks and armories. The city plays a crucial role in Tolandria's defense and its ability to project power across Asmora. Senator Flavius Diusennus Habar, a former general with a reputation for his unyielding nature, represents Antipolis in the Senate.
  5. City of Capula:

    • Province: Capula
    • Notable Features: Capula is the capital of Tolandria, the seat of its government, and the heart of its political life. The city is dominated by the Palace of the Great Tolandrian Senate, an awe-inspiring building constructed of marble, bronze, and stained glass. The palace is the epicenter of Tolandrian politics, where the Senate convenes to debate and decide the future of the nation. Capula is a city of power and influence, and its streets are often filled with the hustle and bustle of political life.
  6. City of Masonia:

The fertile plains surrounding the city are dotted with farms and vineyards, making it a crucial part of the nation's economy. The city is also a center for religious life, with numerous temples dedicated to the gods of Tolandria. The city's Senator is deeply connected to the land and the people, advocating for policies that benefit the nation's farmers and laborers.

Politics: The Tolandrian Senate is the governing body of the nation, composed of representatives from each of the six major cities. The Senate is responsible for making laws, managing foreign relations, and overseeing the nation's military. Each Senator is a powerful figure in their own right, often representing not just their city but also the interests of powerful families and institutions.

Military: Tolandria's military is one of the most disciplined and effective in Asmora. Drawing from its ancient Roman inspirations, the Tolandrian legions are organized, heavily trained, and equipped with the finest arms and armor. The military's presence is felt throughout the nation, from the fortified walls of Antipolis to the disciplined guards in the capital of Capula.

This belief shapes every aspect of Tolandrian life, from its politics to its cultural pursuits. The nation is a melting pot of ideas and innovations, where ancient traditions coexist with new advancements in magic, art, and science.
