Barbaric Mechanic, Shapeshifting Bear
Score: 305 | 12/2/18 |
Description: 6ft 275lb An extremely broad shouldered man with dark brown hair and thick cords of muscle. In bear form he is a massive brown bear.
Crazy Bear began his adventuring career in the Lottery Dungeon in the Scavenger Lands, plumbing its secrets as well as getting pulled into other conflicts in the surrounding territory. When the Lottery Dungeon gained a new master and its secrets were again protected, he found there were scholars that would pay great sums to benefit from his first-hand experience with architectural magic. A large part of his payment for the knowledge he held was being placed in contact with followers of the White Lady who were able to exorcise the demon within him.
Through his scholar contacts, he met the Company, and decided to assist them in the process of trading their priceless Platinum Tag for a codex, and a ship that it could power. He shares his experience with them, as well as his combat ability, and in the meantime he continues his mechanical tinkering.
Inventions so far:
- Safety Blanket. A backpack with cloth and cabling in it, and if you fall from a height and pull a string, you can float down towards the ground at much safer speeds.
- Custom Shapeshifting Armor. The plates are on rails that expand when he becomes a bear, and contract when he is in human form.
- Retractable Blades. His armor can be outfitted with built-in weaponry that can snap out or fold out of the way when it is not needed.
- Hookshot.
Crazy Bear's true name is Asbjorn, and the only person he has told is Cassowary, the predatory druid who is his partner.
His adventuring goal is to return to the Scavenger Lands, travel to the Ruinous Scar, and somehow rescue the avatar of one of the Beast Gods who was sacrificed there.
Early life: Asbjorn or Crazy Bear was born in the Forest of Wolves in the country of Frostreave to a nomadic druidic tribe. As with all members of his tribe, during birth a ritual is performed to bond the infant with their spirit animal. In rare cases the child is not only bonded with a spirit but also gains the ability to take on the shape of their chosen animal. Asbjorn is one of the gifted few who is able to take on the form of his spirit animal, the bear.
Unfortunately he was also cursed and marked by a demon upon his birth and for this he and his mother were cast out of the tribe and forced into the dangerous and unforgiving Scavenger Lands. Asbjorn's mother was able to get them safely to Langtland where she raised her son until her death in his fifteenth year.
