Overview

Governance and Society

  • Rulers: The kingdom of Primrose is ruled by King Kevrose and his Consort Wyna, who serve as more than just figureheads. Primrose's rulers are deeply connected to the welfare of the populace. They are not autocrats but instead serve under a system where their power is beholden to the citizens of the kingdom. This balance between royalty and populace emphasizes a culture of service and duty.

  • Connection to the Land: The kingdom’s prosperity is intimately linked to its geography and the natural forces at work in the region. The rulers and their people maintain ties to the land, helping prevent a dangerous phenomenon known as "Crack of the World" from widening.  Q's Crack, a large fissure running through the land, is magically reinforced to keep the split from expanding, ensuring the kingdom's survival.

Education System

  • Education as a Priority: Education is a central pillar of Primrose's success. All children under the age of 15 are required to attend school, and many professions require extended education until age 20. This emphasis on learning has given the kingdom a reputation for producing highly educated citizens, including knights, engineers, and magicians.

  • Tax Allocation: A significant portion of the kingdom's taxes—25%—is directed toward funding its education programs, demonstrating the importance placed on developing a well-informed and capable populace. These funds ensure the operation of schools, development of new educational programs, and provide resources for students from all walks of life.

Knighthood and Diplomacy

  • Diverse Knighthood: The Primrose knighthood, known as Thorns of Primrose, is known for being composed of 50% out-of-country knights, an unusual feature in most medieval kingdoms. This blend of foreign and local knights strengthens diplomatic ties with neighboring realms and enriches the knighthood with diverse combat and strategic knowledge.

Infrastructure and Magic

  • Magic-Infused Bridges: Given the volatile nature of the land due to the Q Crack, the kingdom has invested heavily in maintaining its infrastructure. Engineers and magicians work together to build and reinforce magical bridges that span the massive fissure, allowing travel and commerce to continue uninterrupted. 25% of taxes are dedicated to maintaining these bridges and the magical wards that keep them intact, ensuring the kingdom remains connected.

Economy and Resource Allocation

  • Remaining Taxes: The remaining portion of the kingdom’s taxes is allocated to other governmental expenses, including healthcare, military defenses, agriculture, and trade. The efficient use of these funds ensures that the kingdom runs smoothly despite the challenges of maintaining magical infrastructure and a comprehensive educational system.

Geographical and Geological Features

Formation of the Land

  • Volcanic Origins: The land of Primrose was forged from a line of volcanoes in the Heart Sea, creating a long, narrow continent. This chain of volcanoes shaped the kingdom’s geography and provided fertile soils for agriculture.

  • Q's Crack: Central to the kingdom’s geography is Q's Crack, a massive fissure that splits the continent into two parts. The crack originated from deep seismic forces, likely connected to the volcanic activity that formed the continent. Though this fissure could have posed a catastrophic threat, the people of Primrose have harnessed magic to reinforce the crack, ensuring that it does not widen further and disrupt life.

  • Bridges Over Q's Crack: The kingdom has constructed a network of magical bridges to traverse the crack, allowing for ease of movement and commerce between the two halves of the kingdom. These bridges are considered engineering marvels, combining traditional construction techniques with potent magic to ensure their stability over the volatile terrain.

Cultural Similarities to Camelot

  • Beholden Royalty: Grounded in a code of chivalry and justice, Primrose's leadership emphasizes serving the people. King Kevrose and Consort Wyna are seen as stewards of the land, their authority linked to the welfare of their subjects.

  • Magic and Tradition: Magic plays a significant role in Primrose, from its infrastructure to its educational system.  Magic is  intertwined with governance, the magical bridges and the warding of Q's Crack highlight the role of magic in sustaining the kingdom’s stability.
