🌍 Project Summary: World of Aeron

The World of Aeron is a richly detailed high-fantasy campaign setting shaped by ancient cosmic forces, fractured godhood, magical civilizations, and the long shadows of war. This living world blends divine mythologies, arcane wonders, political intrigue, and personal stories, unfolding across a tapestry of diverse realms and cultures.


🌀 Cosmic Origins & The Soulforge

At the heart of Aeron’s mythos is the Soulforge, a divine engine of creation once capable of birthing entire races. It now houses the corrupted Celestial Dragon, a once-pure being tainted by interdimensional chaos. Imprisoned alongside her for millennia was Aelthoria, the Goddess of Magic, patron of the Weave and mother of all arcane knowledge.

  • The Weave is unstable, distorted by the corruption within the Soulforge.
  • Aelthoria is now free, but weakened, and manifests through Aspects like Velkaris, the Weaveforged, to guide mortals in restoring balance.
  • The Nodes of Arcane Resonance, ancient magical nexuses tied to the Soulforge, are awakening—along with forgotten threats.

🧝‍♂️ Ancient Elven Legacy

The elven races of Aeron trace their lineage to the nearly divine Celestial Elves, now extinct, whose descendants fractured into:

  • Lunari (Moon Elves): Ebony-skinned lunar mystics once dominant, now myth, evolved into Drow and Twilight Elves after a great war.
  • Solarius (Sun Elves): Technomancers of light and radiant machinery, creators of Sunsteel and sunforged magitech.
  • Twilight Elves: Psionic defenders of the deep, protectors against the entity in the Soulforge; many fell to corruption, becoming the Zasari.
  • Zasari: Twisted, psychic agents of the Corrupted Dragon, spreading void magic and seeking its release.
  • Snow Elves: Reclusive polar dwellers, stoic yet joyful, possibly descended from High Elves long lost to time.

Elven culture is marked by long memory, deep trauma, and fractured kinships—especially after the War of Eternal Regrets and the disappearance of ancient powers.


🛡️ The Mortal Realms

  • Virelion: The noble human kingdom ruled by the line of Sir Alden Fairblade, war hero and unifier of the New Reckoning.
    • Valefort - Capital City-state of Virelion
    • Verdant Haven - Farming based Barony, sea port access
      • Port Haven - Capital and home of the Duke and the Trade Council.
      • Winter Haven - Northern most port city. Good fishing and friendly people, though cold weather is common.
  • El’Manthor: The solemn and majestic Elven Kingdom, ruled by Queen Thalia Moonshadow, who mourns the fallen king and a splintered lineage.
  • Klarvadin: The ancient Dwarven mountain realm, now divided. The High Overthane's soul does not wish to legitimize his own son, instead putting forth a new candidate, a Hill Dwarf from one of the freeholds.
  • The Wastes of Eternal Shadow: A black glass blasted land of death, shadows, and corruption. At it's center is the Shadow Rift, an ominous portal, seemingly to the Shadowfell.
  • Arkarthas: A reformed Drow trade city in the Underdark, now engaging in surface trade and diplomacy after rejecting the worship of Lolth. Linked with the city-state of Kyorl'Vraen.
  • Crucible Academy: A northern magical institution where students are trained to defend the world from arcane threats, located at the edge of the Northlands.

🧙 Important Characters

  • Aelthoria: Goddess of Magic, now restored but still fractured. Her visions reach mortal minds, preparing the world for either renewal or collapse.
  • Velkaris, the Weaveforged: The most prominent Aspect of Aelthoria, an elven archmage granted divine powers to help mend the Weave.
  • Mochi: The Tabaxi matron of the “Middle of the World” inn, who knows more than she lets on.

🕯️ Factions and Orders

  • Thorns of the Black Rose: A secretive assassin guild with an intricate ranking system—Petals, Thorns, Bloomed, and the Black Rose Guildmaster.
  • Shadow Weavers: Spellcasters who exploit corrupted offshoots of the Weave, resisting Aelthoria’s return.
  • Knights of the Mystic Fire: Paladins devoted to Aelthoria’s divine flame and arcane justice.
  • The Soulforged: Dwarven faction that in the past used the power of the Soulforge to enhance themselves. Unlike regular dwarves, they have stone-like or metal skin due to their modifications. They seek the Hammer of the Forge to continue their quest for perfection.
  • The Seekers of Balance: A neutral faction believing Aelthoria must evolve and adapt magic to the modern age.
  • Horde Remnants: Various races that re still loyal to the Dead Leader Gorosh. Some believe he will return to lead them again. 
  • The Soulless: A faction of Intelligent Undead. Their goals and motives vary from one to another. Most are working towards some dark quest.

⏳  Rough Timeline of Key Events - Current Year 58 NR (12,*** TR)

  • ~25,000 years ago: Fall of the Celestial Elves
  • ~15,000 years ago: The Corruption of the Celestial Dragon and Aelthoria's Imprisonment within the Soulforge. Original creation of the Wastes of Eternal Shadows, the corruption slowly expanded into the Wastes as they are today.
  • ~200 years ago: The Wastes of Eternal Shadow - Rift Opens: The wastes are home to Wild Magic Surges, Chaos Energy and Hostile Flora and Fauna. 7 Factions of Mages fought a war over the resources in the area, all perished when their war opened the rift, bathing them all in Chaos. The survivors were permanently changed and became various monsters in the region. 
  • ~80 years ago: The Assassination of Valerion Moonshadow & his son Fairliel. The final Catalyst that actually started the war, previously the Elves sought peace and reconciliation for the awful acts of the Horde.
  • ~58 years ago: End of the War of Eternal Regrets, beginning of the New Reckoning
  • Present: The Weave fractures, divine and arcane conflicts escalate, and ancient powers stir once more.

🔮 Major Themes

  • Mythic Legacy: Players explore ruins of lost empires, unlock ancient knowledge, and discover secrets that rewrite history.
  • Moral Power: Divine pacts, corrupted legacies, and ancient responsibilities ask heroes to choose between redemption, restoration, or righteous destruction.
  • Arcane Fracture: Magic is not stable. The Weave frays. Arcane experiments and unstable nodes cause calamity—and opportunity.
  • Political Strife: The absence of rulers (e.g., the Klarvadin Overthane) and fractured alliances fuel war, rebellion, and secret diplomacy.
  • Heroic Lineage: Players may become Aspects of gods, inheritors of arcane legacies, or the ones who decide the fate of entire races.
