halfling town of nearly 900

Situated on the Chelsea River, on the southern border of the Versan Swamp, Portachglas provides a safe respite for those traveling the Chelsea. The halfling town of nearly 900 provides some of the finest food and the most sought after cooking in the entire continent. Most especially, the giant alligator fingers cooked in a river oyster sauce are a local delicacy.

The town of Portachglas is about the most hospitable one could imagine.  Folks are friendly and the food is good (for a price). Homes are built above ground because of the high water table, but still reflect halfling architecture.  There are merchants of clothing, fishing equipment, cooking supplies, and fortune telling. No one goes into the deeper swamp because of the dangers. The temple has been long abandoned after the floods in 1760 decimated the area.  Portachglas has been rebuilt 7 times in the last 250 years. Since no boat will stop in the swamp, they will dock on the opposite side and give leave to most to visit the village.
