The braying of camels and horses mixes with the stinging sand and burning sun. Tent flaps whip in the harsh wind as thousands of travelers move among the tents with their faces covered.  At night, the air turns frigid and dwellers of the tent city huddle in their tents until the following morning to reenter the city and complete their transactions.

The areas outside Larakesh are a motley collection of tents and caravans of various sizes.  At any given time, up to 10,000 people could be staying semi-permanently around the gates of the city.  Business and trade are done informally throughout the tent city.  There are no signs hung, but occasionally, someone might set out a table of wares.  The Larakesh guard patrols the tent city to make sure there is no official business done without the express permission of the Atra, Ezkeet.

Violence is common in the tent city. There are combats for spectators as well, but gambling is kept secret.  Most of the visitors are Çöl İnsanlar or Chang Cao.  However, there are several tents of drowlings and in the past several months some vistani traders as well.

All sales are taxed by the city, but unlimited trade is allowed.  The right to enter the city is granted to all visitors, but they must leave before nightfall.  The cisterns of water are likewise open to all visitors, though lines may be long.  Many wait until a flood to collect run off and boil the water on their own as it contains filth from the city.

There are no inns.  Travelers are expected to take care of themselves.
