Ten-Towns Settlement

Good Mead is one of the smaller settlements among the Ten Towns of Icewind Dale, founded by immigrants from Chult and the Vilhon Reach. It has a modest population of around one hundred people, led by Kendrick Rielsbarrow. The town is situated on the northwestern shore of the Redwaters lake, near a sprawling evergreen forest. Two roads extend from Good Mead: one leads southwest to Dougan's Hole, and the other heads northeast to Easthaven, connecting to the Eastway trade route.

The town's squat dwellings are adorned with carvings of dinosaurs and serpents, reflecting the heritage of its founders. These homes are dwarfed by the two-story mead hall, which stands as the settlement's central structure, its eaves intricately carved and painted to resemble wyverns. The town literally buzzes with the sound of bees, as honey is a crucial ingredient in the renowned mead that gives the town its name.

While Good Mead's economy originally relied on fishing for knucklehead trout in the nearby Redwaters, the venture brought little profit. As a result, the town shifted its focus to brewing its famous mead, which is now a sought-after commodity in the bustling merchant town of Bryn Shander.

For many years, Good Mead and Dougan's Hole maintained a spirited rivalry, each vying for local prestige and prosperity.
