Dougan's Hole

Dougan's Hole is the smallest of the Ten Towns in Icewind Dale, consisting of a modest cluster of buildings arranged around a pair of piers—one long and one short. The town lies on the western shore of Redwaters, southwest of Good Mead, with its northern edge marked by a gravel path. The speaker for Dougan's Hole is the outspoken and gruff trapper Edgra Durmoot. The town hosts a population of around fifty people, having once reached nearly one hundred at its peak.  Its residents aren't fond of visitors, and inbreeding has caused the population to dwindle in recent years. It also has given rise to often-seen physical deformities, including but not limited to small, misshapen ears and slightly pointed teeth.

Dougan's Hole was founded by Dougan Dubrace, who discovered an excellent fishing spot on the shores of Redwaters Lake. Perhaps the most notable landmark in the hamlet is the megalithic structure known as the Twenty Stones of Thruun. These twenty granite slabs are arranged in an equilateral triangle overlooking the town.
