Evereska, Elvish for "fortress home," is a hidden sanctuary nestled within a legendary valley in the Western Heartlands. It stands as one of the last strongholds of the Fair Folk in Faerun, a secret realm founded in ancient times to safeguard elven culture and heritage. Revered as the pinnacle of elven beauty and tradition, Evereska remains fiercely secluded, with nearly no outsiders welcomed within its borders.

The city and its surrounding valley lie deep within the Backlands of the Western Heartlands, protected by a natural fortress of difficult terrain. To the north rise the imposing Greycloak Hills, while the mysterious Forgotten Forest sprawls to the west. To the east lies the unforgiving desert edge of Anauroch. Evereska itself sits atop a majestic stone pedestal formed from the towering marble cliffs known as the Three Sisters, which soar nearly 1,000 feet above the surrounding grasslands.

Access to Evereska is strictly controlled. The only peaceful entry is through the Passing, a secure passageway that requires either a password or an invitation from the ruling Hill Elders. Otherwise, entry must be gained through a select few, well-protected tunnels or by scaling the steep cliffs that guard the city.

Evereska’s streets are vibrant with life, filled with birds, cats, and woodland creatures that wander in from the surrounding forests. These animals share deep bonds with the city's elves, often serving as trusted messengers. The city is governed by a council of senior elves and eladrin known as the Hill Elders, who convene in the Hall of the High Hunt to guide Evereska's destiny with wisdom and foresight.
