Secomber

Secomber is a small, picturesque town that serves as the de facto border between the relatively tranquil Western Heartlands and the untamed wilderness of the North along the Sword Coast. Renowned for its vibrant, colorful gardens, the town is perched atop three stone hills on the northern banks of the Unicorn Run River and the River Delimbiyr. To its south lies the perilous High Moor, a sprawling and dangerous wilderness, while the Secomber Trail to the north leads to the neighboring town of Uluvin.

The town is governed by Traskar Selarn, a seasoned ranger deeply dedicated to the well-being of Secomber's inhabitants. Traskar is widely respected by his people, who view him not as a distant authority but as one of their own. Supporting the town’s defense is a small garrison of 30 soldiers provided by the Lords' Alliance, bolstered by a local militia numbering over 100 members.

Despite its idyllic appearance, Secomber lives under the shadow of constant threat from the Urshani clan of hobgoblins. These raiders have left the town in a state of perpetual vigilance and hardship. In response to the raids, the townsfolk constructed a defensive wall, though it offers little protection against the relentless assaults. Over the years, numerous adventuring parties have sought to liberate Secomber from the hobgoblins’ grip, but most efforts ended in failure.

In desperation, the town resorted to paying regular tributes to Mishka's Warren, the lair of the Urshani clan. While these offerings appease the hobgoblins enough to reduce the frequency of raids, they have not brought lasting peace. The tributes have drained Secomber of its resources, leaving its people impoverished and struggling to rebuild their lives.

Secomber stands as a town caught between beauty and adversity, where resilience and hope persist despite the dire circumstances that surround it.
