Nesme

Nesme is a small but resilient frontier city located in the Savage Frontier of northwest Faerun, perched beside the River Surbrin. To the north lies the dangerous Lurkwood forest, while the plains and hills beyond are home to numerous Uthgardt barbarian tribes. To the southeast stretch the treacherous swamps of the Evermoors, notorious for their troll-infested depths. The road leading south from Nesme winds through the Surbrin Hills to the settlement of Mornbryn's Shield.

The economy of Nesme is primarily driven by trade, with a strong focus on investing in the city’s defense. Its strategic position makes it a vital hub for goods traveling to and from the western regions, and nearly all commerce in the area passes through its gates. Nesme is particularly renowned for its exceptional steel, a commodity highly sought after by traders and adventurers alike. This reputation for quality craftsmanship has helped sustain the city’s wealth and independence despite the many threats that surround it.

Those who cause trouble quickly find themselves escorted out by the Riders of Nesme, the city’s elite military force. The Riders are a disciplined and highly effective group, tasked with defending Nesme and its trade routes. In a land where peace is a rare luxury, the Riders' frequent skirmishes against marauding trolls and barbarian raiders have made them seasoned veterans.
