The Greenfields

The Greenfields is a vast expanse of rolling grasslands in the Western Heartlands. Known for its fertile plains and open terrain, the region serves as a natural crossroads for travelers, merchants, and wandering folk of Faerun.

The Greenfields are bounded by:

• The River Chionthar to the north, marking the region’s separation from Elturgard and the Fields of the Dead.
• Amn to the south, with trade routes connecting the Greenfields to the merchant lords of Athkatla.
• Durlag’s Tower to the west, a legendary dwarven ruin now shrouded in mystery and peril.
• The Giant’s Plain to the east, an expanse known for ancient battles, towering monoliths, and the occasional roaming giant clans.

The Greenfields are primarily pastoral lands, home to scattered farming villages, ranches, and trade outposts. The land is lush and fertile, making it ideal for cattle grazing, grain farming, and horse breeding. The lack of natural fortifications has left the region vulnerable to bandits, gnoll warbands, and raiding orcs from the Sunset Mountains, but the presence of Hellriders patrols from Elturel often deters larger threats.

The Greenfields serve as a buffer zone between Amn and Elturgard, its peaceful appearance belying the dangers that lurk in its hills and abandoned ruins. Travelers seeking safety in numbers often gather in its few towns before pressing onward into more perilous lands.
