Waterdeep Castle Ward

The Castle Ward is the central ward of the city of Waterdeep, serving as the heart of the city's government and administration. It encompasses Mount Waterdeep, Castle Waterdeep, and several key civic buildings, including the Palace of Waterdeep, where the city's rulers conduct official business.

The ward's boundaries are defined as follows: to the north, it is bordered by Julthoon Street, extending west of Shield Street. Its eastern border follows Trader’s Way between Shield Street and the High Road, with Snail Street also marking part of the boundary. The southern edge of the ward is delimited by Shesstra Street, Gut Alley, Belnimbra’s Street, and Lackpurse Lane, where it meets the waters of Deepwater Harbor.

A significant portion of the Castle Ward's territory is occupied by Mount Waterdeep, a towering natural landmark that dominates the city's skyline. Much of the land on the mountain remains undeveloped, though it serves as a strategic point for defenses and houses hidden paths and fortifications. Despite its central location, the Castle Ward is not solely an administrative district; it also features bustling markets, grand avenues, and the residences of influential nobles and wealthy merchants.
