Central Park
-
Central Park was an urban park between the Upper West Side and Upper East Side neighborhoods of Manhattan in New York City.
Score 601
02/03/25The park has become a Badside zone, a stark contrast to its former role as a peaceful retreat in the heart of the bustling city. Its well-tended pathways have been overtaken by rampant vegetation, and its serene lakes have turned murky and stagnant. While the park is still a place where people occasionally seek solitude or a brief escape from the chaos of the city, it is also home to dangerous creatures, unpredictable factions, and lurking threats. The park is now more like a battleground, where survival is the only law.
The park’s status as a hunting ground is well-earned, but it's not all monstrous beasts and violent chaos. Most of the dangers are subtle and elusive, requiring a keen sense of awareness and survival instincts to avoid. Nature has reclaimed the space, but with it has come a new breed of predators, both human and animal, who have adapted to this new world in their own ways.
Mutated Creatures:
While there are some mutated creatures within Central Park, they are rarely seen. These creatures have adapted to the harsh environment, becoming stealthier and more elusive as a result. Most are harmless unless provoked, and many have become creatures of the night—only glimpsed fleetingly in the twilight or heard in the rustling leaves.
- The Shadow Beasts:
These creatures are rarely seen and mostly operate at night. Their eyes glow faintly in the dark, and their sleek, shadowy forms blend in seamlessly with the park’s overgrown areas. They are fast and silent, often catching the unwary by surprise. Though they are more curious than aggressive, they will attack if they feel threatened. Encounters with these creatures are rare and fleeting, with only whispers of their presence circulating among those who venture into the park at night.
- The Giant Spiders:
The park’s once-pristine trees now house nests of large, venomous spiders. These creatures are shy, preferring to remain hidden in the tall grasses or the trees, only descending to catch small prey. While they pose a threat if provoked or if one gets caught in their web, they tend to avoid humans if they can. Most people who have encountered them report hearing only a soft, eerie rustling before seeing the spiders retreat back into the foliage. They are a nuisance more than a danger, as their venom is not typically lethal unless the victim is trapped long enough for the poison to take effect.
The Feral Dogs:
By far the most dangerous and frequent threat in Central Park are the feral dogs. These creatures have grown wild over the years, their numbers swelled by abandoned pets, wild strays, and packs that have formed in the wake of the city’s collapse. These dogs are lean, hungry, and aggressive, working in packs to overwhelm and take down prey. Unlike the other creatures in the park, the dogs are not shy. They are constantly on the hunt, and their ferocity makes them the most common danger for those who wander too far into the park.
The packs of dogs are territorial and will fiercely defend their area from any intruders. The dogs' instincts have become more primal and less domesticated, and they have adapted to living in the ruins of Manhattan, scavenging whatever food they can find. The larger packs are the most dangerous, coordinating their attacks with ruthless efficiency. Anyone unlucky enough to encounter a pack of these dogs will find themselves surrounded, with little chance of escape unless they manage to outrun them or find shelter.
Thrill Gangs, Organleggers, and Sickos:
Amidst the wild creatures, Central Park has become a haven for the darker elements of post-apocalyptic society. The park’s dense foliage, maze-like paths, and isolated areas provide the perfect cover for those who wish to operate in the shadows. Thrill gangs, organleggers, and sadistic individuals have taken refuge here, using the park’s wilderness to conduct their twisted operations.
Thrill Gangs: These gangs are a group of twisted survivors who use the park as their playground. They delight in hunting the weak, stalking people for sport, and creating gruesome challenges for anyone who dares to enter. These gangs often set up traps or ambushes, using the park’s labyrinthine paths to confuse and disorient their victims. While not all members of the gangs are violent, many revel in the chaos they create, seeing the park as a place to live out their darkest impulses.
Organleggers: Hidden deep in the park, the organleggers use the chaos to cover their grisly work. These individuals harvest organs from the bodies of the park’s victims, sometimes in exchange for food or supplies. Some even breed people in captivity, using them as living vessels to harvest from as needed. The organleggers are a secretive bunch, working quietly in the darkness, taking advantage of the park's dangers to operate undisturbed. Their business is one of survival, but it is brutal and unforgiving, with no room for morality.
Sadistic Survivors: Central Park also plays host to those individuals who find pleasure in inflicting pain and suffering. These survivors, often disconnected from any sense of morality, create traps, set up sick games, and prey on anyone who happens to wander into their territory. They are opportunistic, preying on the vulnerable and using the park's wilderness to hide their actions. Like the thrill gangs, they are drawn to the violence and chaos of the environment, feeding off the fear of those unfortunate enough to cross their path.
Central Park’s Reputation:
Despite its natural beauty, Central Park has become a place of dread. Its once-lush landscape is now a mix of wild growth, deadly predators, and twisted human activity. The park has become a dangerous zone where survival is a game of wits and luck. While some people venture in during the day, seeking a brief escape from the city’s madness, only the brave or desperate risk entering at night. The park is no longer a place of refuge or tranquility—now, it is a place of danger, where nature, humanity, and brutality intersect in a deadly dance.
For those who wander into Central Park, the best advice is simple: be aware, move quickly, and never stay too long. If you’re lucky, you’ll survive the park's dangers, but if you’re not, you may become part of its dark, ever-growing legend.
