Lake Teirfalduin

A large freshwater lake in Taluaine, located several miles to the north of Ghafad-dûl. Fed by several small tributaries from the surrounding highlands, Lake Teirfalduin was a deep lake rich with vegetation and home to a diverse ecosystem of reeds, algae, fish, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. While several small camps were established around the shores of the lake, the largest permanent settlement was the town of Shargath, home of the Shargathon Lizardfolk tribe.

When Ghafad-dûl exploded several years after the Jade Genocide, Lake Teirfalduin was one of the surrounding areas to be heavily hit by falling debris and volcanic ash. The deep lake offered some protection for the Shargathon to hide as fire and stone rained down from the sky, but it ultimately proved to be the doom for its inhabitants when Asphixias sought his Viridian Vengeance against the lizardfolk. As the lake was deep enough to hide a great wyrm Green Dragon, the lizardfolk were able to predict or escape his wrath.

Lake Teirfalduin now sits mainly abandoned of sentient life, a grim reminder of one Dragon's greed and fury.
