The seat of government and the home to King Sebastes ir'Kesslan, Newthrone is the largest City and Port in Q'barra.  Sitting on the banks of the Whitecliff River, much of the surrounding area is choked with swamp and jungle.  Myriad people from all over Argones mingle here in the crowded streets of the Nation's Capital.  The city is heavily fortified since it has been a target of attacks from Lizardfolk, Dragonborn, Pirates from Hell's Reach, and other assailants; however, Soldiers pay little heed to the rampant crime in these streets, viewing it instead as part of life in the port city.

When the Last War splintered the Verdant Realm into the Five Nations, Duke Ven ir'Kesslan of Verdun applied for and was granted the lands beyond the Endworld Mountains that the Hell's Reachers called Q'barra.  The Duke's settlers founded the cities of Adderport and Newthrone.

Newthrone has been built in the architectural style of the old Verdant Realm, and has attracted the various Dragonmarked Houses, which have established Enclaves in the city.  The largest enclave is House Tharashk, run by opportunist Khalar Velderan d'Tharashk.  Khalar runs his Dragonshard mining operations out of Newthrone.  In addition, House Goodseller and House Wainwright have significant enclaves as well.

A group called the Finders of the Lost work to recover cultural artifacts of the old Verdant Realm and are officially sanctioned by Newthrone. The king's rule is unstable with the various players in town all having designs on the place.  Alzia ir'Kesslan, the king's sister and First Minister of New Galifar, has been assigned to investigate these various powers.  She works to uncover plots and identify threats.

Newthrone is also the host to various Hell's Reach and Riedran Barons, as well as Merchants seeking trade with Q'barra.  The Riedrans even possess a small Ward of the city, where only Riedrans and Inspired are allowed to enter.

King Sebastes ir’Kesslan is receiving military support from Riedra. The region around Newthrone features Harmonious Shield garrisons aiming to defend the settlers from lizardfolk attacks, but they are also spreading Riedran values. The Inspired view Q'barra as a strong foothold in Argones. Their relationship with Newthrone provides them with a source of dragonshards and a base for their troops. The Dreaming Dark could engineer further conflict with lizardfolk, Lhazaar pirates or Valenar raiders to encourage the King to request more troops.

Oargev ir'Wynarn is displeased that, with the decimation of Verdun on the Day of Mourning, his sovereignty was not acknowledged in the Treaty of Thronehold. Further, no homeland was created for the Verdunian diaspora. As the rightful ruler of Verdun and a unified Verdant Realm he has a chip on his shoulder.

Now, some expat has been recognized as King in Q'barra ruling from the seat of New Galifar while Oargev squats in the backwoods of Hosuth. If Verdun were to be reborn, there is one place with the groundwork already in place.

Oargev is also in need of a wife and heir, and King Sebastes ir'Kesslan's sister is unwed...

Newthrone is also courting the larger Halfling tribes, seeking alliances for trade and mutual defense based on their joined disinterest in the Five Nations.

One of the Cold Sun Tribes of lizardfolk, the Twilight Walkers, is willing to work with settlers as ambassadors between tribes/settlers. They often visit Newthrone.
